Now weathered. Didn't want to go too far with it.

Apart from adding a couple of drains for the downpipes, it's complete. Next job is weathering. The dates on the circus/boxing posters would be for 1961.
  5. Who cares? Modelling is about enjoying what you do, not what others think. A friend of mine is also a very big Gerry Anderson fan, so I sent him a link to this.

The Travellers' Rest now has outside facilities. Added the brick paper to the station building this morning. Once dry, the building was decidedly warped. So extra bracing was added while the structure was held firmly down, then added pieces to correct the warp in the gable ends. I will use a felt-tip to touch up around the windows and doors. I imagine the structure attached at the end would be a Gents toilet. I'll be using a Wills SS65 kit for the inside, for which I will be diving into the shed to dig out. Walls will be built up using 1.5mm plywood, brick paper and craft paper for the inside. Once this is done, I suppose I hade better start looking at the baseboards.

    On Cats

The late Kitt, on the rare occasion that I caught two of my cats in the same picture.

Window sprue arrived from Peco when I got home from work. Window openings modified, bit of extra depth and slightly narrower. 3 days off now, but loads of house work to catch up on, so maybe not much modelling done.

    On Cats

Fred, the first cat I had, always had a Christmas dinner, the works, turkey, stuffing, small roast spud, sprout, swede and gravy. We tried it on our next cat, Tom, who just turned up as a kitten and we never found who he originally belonged to. He wasn't so keen. Our next cat Tabitha was a fussy bitch and after first Fred, then Tom passed away, she was rather indulged.

With the buses, I will make do with what I have already, two ECW Leyland PS1s from Corgi OOC. These have been stripped down to bare metal and I have the correct decals. I am not a bus enthusiast, so close enough for me. But it is still fascinating to get information on what actually did run on the hill. EDIT: Bodies primered, then a quick browse on ebay and I finds me a EFE Yorkshire TS8, which looks closer to the mark and is almost the correct colours. And only £8.50.

The red used is proving difficult to pin down. I can't find a reference online and picture show anything from cherry red to maroon. Any clues?

I'll be using either Tamiya NATO or Rubber black for the back board and a mix of something I call 'not quite white' for the letters and surround. From the picture a few posts above, the posts appear to be concrete.

Peco very quick to get back to me and windows from the castle Cary kit on there way to me. Running in board arrived. 3D printed from ebay seller asis3d, for £6.10 with free postage. Cruelly blown up shows a couple of very minor flaws, but easily rectified and so much better than I could manage using a kit. Main thing is that it looks the part.

Chimneys and a bit more signage added to The Smiths Arms. Chimney tops are waiting for the glue to dry, then they can be painted and placed. Had planned to get the guttering on today, but it turns out that I am out of 1mm drill bits. The Travellers' Rest is at the same stage now. I'll be adding an outside dunny on this end as the real one, that looks nothing like this, had a lean-to structure there. Station has been assembled and the large door turned into a window to approximate the actual station. No idea what the backside looks like, so I have made the double door a single, but it won't be seen anyway. The far end has different colour bricks, but difficult the tell what colour and this end has a Gents toilet, by the looks of it and the wall appears to be rendered. In an ideal world, I would like to get hold of 3 windows like this, as it appears to be this type at Aberbargoed. I have contacted Peco to see if I can get some, but if any readers have three going spare, I would dearly like to take them off your hands.

This is the building that will stand in for the Travellers' Rest. Rather truncated, but it has to be to fit the width of the boards. Originally planned for it to be a cream colour, but it look more white in the YouTube clip above. With only a small pot of white available, I will use Halfords white primer. Bit of a tidy up around the windows and doors. Thoughts now turning to the station itself. I have already blocked out some windows and doors to get it similar to the front layout of the actual building. Would it have missed out being painted in Western Region colours and maybe remained in GWR stone? Also of note is the end wall in a different colour brick. For the running-in board, I have ordered a 3D printed one from a seller on ebay.
