  1. I've signed up to the new service and have been having a play. A little fettling with the settings on my elgoo mars and I've had results with this lot, will be intrigued once I've got some paint on to compare them with modelu's own as id assume they have a higher quality printer than myself. I've now downloaded some more and with my 50% off code so some railway workers will be getting printed next as well as the imminent September sitting figures release which I think will be very handy for populating coaches. Cheers Pete
  2. Oh no I've dropped a howler there, it's amazing what you can manage to mess up even with photos sat Infront of you. It's going to bother me now so fingers crossed I can unglue it and try to fix this major cock up , alternatively I'll be ordering a couple more kits to try again. @RailWest any thoughts on a better colour for lever 27 ? Maybe I can blame it on no longer being acquainted with levers for my day job instead being replaced with the IECC clicky mouse 🤔 Pete
  3. The final building to make a start on is the loco shed. I am going to try and 3d print this in sections and then fill in the sides with plasticard plus 3d printed windows. So far ive done one section and it looks like it might be a viable way to do it although I am yet to get any further with this part of the project as it takes a fair amount of time to print each section and thats without accounting for any failures. Cheers Pete
  4. The big project I have been working on lately was the next laser cut kit from Andy at Railmodel.co.uk I sent him the drawings I had transposed to libreCAD and he made me the kit for Ilfracombe goods shed. This has been given a full interior and just remains to have lights added. I 3d printed the Chimney and the kit was provided with laser cut individual strips of roof tiles which have been laid on top of each other to create a very satisfying effect. Cheers Pete
  5. A fiddle yard extension has been built so I can have longer trains A yard crane was designed and 3d printed based off a picture of the real thing. The base is just a block of wood clad in plasticard with 3d printed steps. The Turntable has undergone some more detailing with soldering wire handrails and also plating over the centre of the sleepers The final part of the station has been started including the station building, canopy and the main entrance cheers Pete
  6. Previously lost images have been restored where possible in the topic so I guess its time for an update.... The signal box has been finished and given an interior, I 3d printed some of the concrete bases for it to stand on and have then used DAS to bed it into the baseboard The Taxi hut building has also been 3D printed which is my first attempt at printing a full building. It was a little wobbly on the base but thats been fixed with the DAS base aswell. Cheers Pete
  7. Funnily enough After posting on Russell's topic I had a look as I couldn't find this not sure if it had been shelved however your comment has made it reappear so yes an update will be in order in due course. Cheers Pete
  8. Nice to see some more progress Russell. I've just completed my goods shed for my Ilfracombe layout and earlier on in the year the signalbox too. I gave Andy over at railmodel.co.uk some drawings and he made some laser cut kits for me. If you have the space for the full size shed its available on request as well as 2 versions of the signalbox (banked per the prototype or flat bottom) if you wanted to give them a crack to help keep things moving on for you? Cheers Pete
  9. Very nice I'd go as far to say one of the best factory fitted locos I've got. Currently I have two sound fitted plus another waiting to be done. Cheers Pete
  10. Sorry to hear that you can no longer continue with this work of art. Like others have said its been an inspiration on here for many I hope you can find someone to take it on and let your work live on. Pete
  11. Thanks for all the replies I run the layout as summer of 54 in one time period and then summer of 61 as the other so this should give me a good idea what to use. Cheers Pete
  12. Hi there I hope some of you with some car knowledge can help identify some of the vehicles in these photos outside of ilfracombe station. This would greatly help me with the model of the station I am building . Cheers Pete
  13. Anyone wanting to pick up the new efe crosscountry coaches head over to rails all three variants are available at the same reduced price https://railsofsheffield.com/products/efe-rail-e86015-lswr-cross-country-3-coach-pack-br-sr-green Finally bagged myself a set of these as I notice rails have 20% off now which makes them 179.95 plus you can use the discount code Eastertreat for another 5% off this weekend with DPD p&p that's 174.98 all in so about 56.60 per coach. They look very nice but I'm guessing they aren't selling like hotcakes due to the fact you've got to buy the 3 pack and the high cost per coach Bachmann are asking for these days.

  15. Which when compared to most places is still more expensive....
  16. I went by the Bachmann stand at Warley this weekend to ask the question when we might expect the Malachite Bulleids back. Apparently it was a common question and although they couldn't say when it, it was good to be reassured that the whole batch have been shipped back to China and will have the running numbers corrected by being tampo printed again (hopefully with the right numbers this time.....) Cheers Pete
  17. More froth for people to pour over. Red seats Blue for first Look at that underframe. Cheers Pete
  18. My set 847 was picked up from Paul at Alton models today. They are looking very nice and I decided to stick to it running as a 3, also managed to find further justification for the SR green L set as well as the 2R set I already had planned on getting. They also come with some very nice instructions about fitting the detail parts cheers I've sold off one of my old tooling sets recently but still have one left so will see how they compare side by side. Cheers Pete
  19. would be very poor form from Bachmann if they pulled that kind of move as @Graham_Muzhas already alluded to here and to the manufacturer they are an essential and would sell like hot cakes especially if you are needing to make up ACE formations. Then again we have seen some pretty poor business practice from some manufacturers in the last few years..... Pete
  20. They are looking just as good as the photos we have previously seen, now just time to stump up the cash for these new ones (pray for my wallet)🙏 Still baffles me why they seem to be waiting for the second run to do the a H or L set in BR Green but hey ho 🤷‍♂️ Pete
  21. Any idea if Bachmann do the D2170 TK I see wizard do it as a kit ? Cheers Pete
  22. Hi guys my layout is based on Ilfracombe so I have the occasional inter regional train although the Lms isn't my area of expertise. I've found this picture with a coach sat In the sidings but can't tell what it might be due to only seeing half the coach. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Pete
  23. What's this a little side project?? I recently have had another look at what stock I have and have shuffled some sets around to make them more appropriate and also had a look at the kit built bulleids I had part assembled and found that one of them will be of use as a loose brake which was very common on formations like the ACE. I did however want a couple more dining coaches to add to some of my express trains with Hornby's latest release of the maunsell restaurant I should be able to complete another set. However when doing some reading I wanted to make the bulleid tavern cars. Having read some other people's threads who have made them on here I settled on using a Hornby mk1 as a doner and have ordered the sides and unframe gear from wizard models. I will be doing the tavern car in crimson and cream post 51 rebuild and the restaurant coach also post rebuild which is how they would have run from 51 to 59 when the taverns were rebuilt to a more conventional design. Having taken the coaches apart I then chopped off all the under carriage gear as none of this can be used. The roof has had all rainstrips and vents cut off and sanded. This will be further filled and sanded before new details being added. Bye bye buffers the end of the tevern car connected to the restaurant coach had no buffers as they were intended to be permanently coupled. A general view of how the sides will attach onto the Hornby donors. More to follow. Cheers Pete
  24. Today involved a little bit more 3D printing design work and a bit of trial and error. I already had some laser cut signs for the box but they had their limitations due to how they were made. I therefore decided to 3d print some instead. I drew up the design on SketchUp and then chucked the design into the 3d printer. Attempt 1 looks ok however they look a little thin on the edges turning over to the back you can see why .... I needed to add more supports as they had become detached when printing and were pulling away from the build plate. They are only 1.5mm thick anyways so it is always going to be tough keeping them attached to the build plate. Attempt 2 and I managed to get one come out just right. Time to give it a lock of paint. After a coat of Halfords spray paint for the green I then picked out the frame and letters with a detail brush. I will let it dry before attaching to the box, speaking of which... End door was today added and the rodding cover was also put together and painted, it currently isn't fixed in place and is just leaning against the bottom of the box. Cheers Pete
