I have the original P class crew and had to paint them yourself. Glad to see some pre coloured ones as this will save me the time.

Rails Pre-order then automatically billing
JSpencer replied to Yankee Jack's topic in Rails of Sheffield
Pretty much the same pre-order process everywhere. IF you subscribe to their news letter, you'll get updates about what is coming soon and can anticipate the card swipe. Right now I see Jones Goods and Locomotion are about to arrive, indicating a possible debit in the next few weeks. Note that a lot of people, don't wish to be pre-advised. They just want their order out of the door within 5 minutes of Rails receiving them... -
The Class 37/9 "Slugs", by Accurascale
JSpencer replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
This is pretty impressive in not only going for a niche group of 37s but also niches within that brought. Almost like a class of one offs so to speak. Well done accurascale. -
EFE Rail launches Austerities and J94 in 00
JSpencer replied to Steamport Southport's topic in EFE Rail
It was a cow from memory. Probably involves removing the cab and definitely separating the upper half of the saddle tank from the lower half all by unclipping those parts (if a model deserved the title "lack of ease for maintenance" this would win it). If it has a ladder fitted, 2 glasses of whiskey are recommended before hand. Otherwise hammer and anvil should work too.... Now that the superior AS is in the works, I'd like to strip mine apart again and recover the sound chip to fit it into something worthy..... -
Cough! Hornby generic 4 wheelers. Cough!

Sounds good. Maybe tweek the chuff a little. It's missing a little deepness to it.

LIVE product design - a new OO wagon at the NEC this weekend
JSpencer replied to RapidoCorbs's topic in Rapido Trains
Well done Rapido on such a quick design. Hopefully we will see these LBSC vans announced at some point. I'd buy a few to go with the E1. -
Well that is good to see. GNR/LNER fans get extra variants between the two. Brilliantly constructive.
-
Well I was not expecting those. Probably a bit "after the horse bolted". Their last 60s fell into the bargain bins after Cav and AS announced theirs, so this Hornby run will need some plus points over the two competitors and - while I think the Hornby 60 is possibly their best OO diesel, there would need to something of an upgrade or better price point to beat the other entrants. As for the J52, I can only guess they must have been working on it a long time before Rapido announced theirs. As deliberately duplicating stuff in their situation is likely to be harmful.
-
Normally these sort of things are to announce a limited edition of some loco in their current range. So set the expectations at that level and don't be surprised if it is not from your region, era, detailed level etc. IF it is an entire new class or something you actually want then the expectation will be exceeded. TBH - I have a healthy backlog in my pre-orders to not really want anything else. But they could surprise me.
-
They are the same images when they first announced the project.
-
IF AS are, they probably would not announce it until they have working EPs (looking at the last few announcements).

Thanks, but sorry it is not entirely, do you mean I should have received one when I fully paid back feb/march (which I did) OR another one the last few days please?

Hunslet Austerity, By Accurascale
JSpencer replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
As I own 2 of the DJM ones including the preserved exclusive Wilfred, I have no doubt Accurascale will surpass those. I have a Dapol one and in the 1990s, it was my favourite shunter as it would run anywhere and do anything I asked of it. That sprung centre axle made sure it never stopped going over dead frogs. I had high hopes for the DJ one. This was under powered, poorly balanced and weighted to the rear, could climb off the rails at certain points. I added weight to one and it was quite a task to fit sound but it never runs satisfactory. Here I know I'm going to get the ultimate austerity that I'm confident will surpass both everywhere. I just to need to wait for AS to do a loco I would like. -
Hunslet Austerity, By Accurascale

Well done chaps! Lovely work. Now if you could do any of the KESR ones at some point please (in bold my preferred loco as I have fond memories being on her footplate) : No 23 Holman F Stephens & No 25 Northiam 75008 Swiftsure WD132 Sapper EDIT: Neither Dapol, Hornby nor DJM ever did the KESR ones. They were probably waiting for something better to arrive ;-)
