Finally got my imperium decoder today

great decoder good control of the lights just dissapointed you cant turn the cab lights off with it apart from the switch under the body.

the photo was taken without lights on but with f3 pressed .

Is that lightbleed from the headlights on the cabside

So what liveries will we see in the next batch of 68s do you think ?

Thanks for that John, Definitely different - I'll have to closely compare it with the old board when I get my hands on one.

I'll have to investigate if it needs a decoder fitted with two logic level outputs or a full capability six function decoder to operate the halo lights

 

Do the instructions say which decoders are suitable for 6 function working? Are they different to the first batch instructions?

 

A quick look shows T1 and T2 in place of D4 and D8 on the original board. (Transistors were added along with the enamelled wire in place of two diodes on the original batch).

Confirmed by Joel from Dapol yesterday.

Second batch of 68s on the water and should be here in time for Warley.

Including the replacement DRS bodies.

Fit a bass reflex in the fuel tank it will really sing then. Will sound so much better than the speaker your using at the moment

How much better are the Shawplan nameplates over the Dapol supplied ones for the 68's?

Also I take it the Shawplan brake discs are a step up from the Railtec ones?

Well I am well happy with the discs I done myself using railtech ones

Anyone else found the tension lock coupler snags the rail when not coupled to anything?

I am using a kadee coupling and it's spot on

looks great I'm envious!

Thanks Ben I am a lover of locos in there dirty state not nice and clean just look far more realistic

I have my 68 a weathering today am well happy looks a bit more realistic now

How did you do that with Biff's sound chip Nick? I haven't mastered it!?

If you go on dc kits website you can see the function list of the 68 easy as that really just go by the functions

Hi all, I have seen all three variants of the 68 models today and I was quite disappointed. The quality control on them seems poor again for Dapol, The nameplates were not straight and had glue around the edges. The warning panel yellow fronts had worn off on the plastic packaging and there was a lot of untidy yellow around the headlights. I was going to buy two DRS ones but I will wait and see if there QC will improve for the next batch. It might just be me being picky has anyone seen one in the flesh yet?

Doesn't sound to good then from Dapol have they got a real nice gloss on the Drs livery

I would definitely be getting in the car tomorrow and taking it back to hattons to get that checked out before I fitted the soundchip and possibly blowing it if there was something not right

Picked 68002 up today. My first Dapol, so quiet cautious.

 

Very pleased indeed, only run on Dc, but very smooth out of the box, and stunning to look at.

Also advised by Hattons that it should be dispatched later this week.

 

Hopefully will arrive ready for me to fit Biffo class 68 sound chip purchased at our exhibition (Stafford) in readiness for duties at Glasgow the next weekend on Oil Drum Lane

 

Might even get a chance for a light weathering job.

So why did hattons tell you it should be despatched this week when Dapol haven't even said on there digest forum they are in the U.K. yet

Well the boat must be getting close to the uk now if Dapol said delivery will be the second week of this month.

So should be getting confirmation of orders being sent out in a couple of weeks

Is there an estimated timescale for this, as the only wagon they can produce to go with all the 59's is the JHA wagon.

 

In the summer I am planning on converting a dozen FLHH coal wagons to NP JMA's

Well if you look now DB cargo are using redundant ews coal hoppers for stone traffic now with DB 59s

Just had an email from Model Railways Direct saying my pre-order has shipped. I pre-ordered a OO Defiant and the Bachmann Highland DTCL set at the same time, but order history seems to say both have shipped together. Website shows DTCL in stock and Defiant sold out. Somewhat excited.......

Sounds good but it does say this on there website thou and everywhere else says release for next month

Too many users trying to find out when the 68's due..................?
