    Hi John,

     

    That's a heck of a long platform, is it intended to run full length trains, what's that 13 or 14 coaches?

    Although a quick look at the train formation for 13 June 1960 the 10.15 am from St Pancras was made up of:

     

    BSK(24)* CK(24/18)* FK(42)* RF(24) SO(64)* 3 SK(48)* SK(48)(SO)* SO(48)* BSK(24)*

     

    So perhaps smaller trains.

     

    The platform edges look good, are they a kit or self built?

    I have a good number of topics that I either follow, contribute to or sometimes just dip into to reread. The problem is how to get to them easily without setting up bookmarks in my browser (Firefox). Of course there is the "My Followed Content" on the home page but this just shows 12 topics and they don't appear to be in any particular order. Is there away that I can prioritize the topics either alphabetically or by latest notification/update? Another idea would be to add a scroll button so that you can scroll through the topics?

     

    I'm assuming that "My Followed Content" and "Content I/You Follow" are the same?

    PECO Announces Bullhead Track for OO

    Do you think Peco could be encouraged to make this bullhead track using code 100 rails and a centre rail so that I can run my Hornby Dublo on it? It’d look great with my diecast City of Liverpool pulling 3 tinplate carriages …. Who could ask for more?

     

    By the way didn’t Hornby Dublo track use the correct size and spacing of sleepers 50 odd years ago?

    Hi John,

     

    Just looking at the last photograph that you posted and, as I've said many times I think it looks superb but it also looks immensely long, how long is it? My understanding was that Leeds City was being built in the same shed as Bradfield albeit that you increased the width last year, did you also increase the length of the shed?

    Has anybody given consideration to the DCConcepts Pre-etched Sleeper kits, there was a detailed explanation/example photographs and video of a modeller building both a Slip and a turnout that was quite informative but that was a few years ago and I can't find it now. I have been tempted by their kits but haven't tried them yet!

     

    Just looking at the DCConcepts site now and I can see that they offer two thicknesses of sleepers, 1.0mm and 1.6mm.

    Would that be lead as in

     

    Back in day on volunteer PW work the retired PWI always used the word 'lead'...hey ho..! When l use it people look at me with a puzzled look.....!

    Would that be lead as in "The dogs lead" or lead as in " soft heavy metal"?

    All the existing track and underlay has been lifted and new cork sheet glued down. 

     

    Plain track will be C&L on the mark 2 version, replacing the SMP EM track used on mark 1!

     Was there a problem with the underlay and SMP track and are you going to lift it throughout the model or is it just the fiddle yards?

    Hi Ian,

     

    This is superb, I've just come across Star Lane Hooley a couple of hours ago and wow this is really good, I like it a lot but I do have a question if you don't mind, have you had any difficulties with the gradients particularly with the steam locos. I've read through a couple of times now and I haven't seen what the gradient is.

    Thank you, don't bet on it, my eldest Granddaughter is just over Four years old and she has her own Brio train set from "The Early Learning Centre" and she is always asking to see Grandads trains when she visits, this is not my influence in any way either.

    Same here; When my children stopped playing with the brio, I put it away in the hope of grandchildren. I would say that Eliza has been playing with it since before she could walk, she'll be four in May but every time she visits she wants the trainset out. The other Grandparents heard about her asking for the trainset when she visited so thought it a good idea to get her one of her own for Christmas :cry: .............. She still visits though and still wants to play trains with Grandad Ian :locomotive: !

    That said I don't think many modellers would know what ECS was anyway.

    That's a little unfair, everybody knows "Electronic Control Signalling";-)

     

     

     

     

    Reason for edit: I had written Servo in stead of Signalling, don't know why ... so much for trying to be funny, I'll get me coat now!

    I have looked at the DCC product and it appears ideal and now the cost of copper strip has gone up to it's current level, then it's a good alternative.  I tend to standardise on C10's wherever possible and B7's in a yard or shed.  Richard doesn't offer a C10 sleeper pack, so it's not an option for me.  It could be an option for the B7's.

    I hope don't mind me coming back to the idea of DCC Concepts Etched Sleepers, as you say the Richard doesn't offer C10, the max on offer is B9. I'm not sure that I fully understand the difference between  a 'B' and a 'C' switch or perhaps I do, is it just the length of the switch and consequently the length of the turnout would be somewhat longer? From Templot http://www.templot.com/martweb/gs_realtrack.htm a 'B' switch is 12' and the 'C' switch 15' so a 'C' switch in this instance would require two more sleepers or is it not that simple? I imagine that I'm missing something? :no:

    Hi Gordon,

     

    It is good to see you keeping busy and using the track building as a distraction at what is a horrible time, no matter how much we prepare ourselves it takes time to come to terms with it.

     

    On a different note, the cost of PCB sleepers and the preparation time, would it be worthwhile to look at the product from DCC Concepts? https://www.dccconcepts.com/product/pre-etched-sleepers-1-0mm-4mm-scale-b9-to-a5-points/

     

    I understand that the sleepers are available in two thicknesses 1.0 & 1.6mm, they also come with tie bars.

     

    I don't know if they are any good, I'm an armchair modeller, who so far has only modelled in his imagination but this does give me an opportunity to ask a question. You mention cutting the cork strip, when you cut the cork will it then bend to the shape of the track route or do you have to cut it to shape of the route?
