Once again a first class video, Rod. Nice to see operational proceedures being followed. Wetted my appetite the next one.
Stay safe

Just seen your article in the Gazette. Well done, Rod. Looks superb - well worth the wait. Hope that restores your mojo to full working order.

Absolutely superb, Rod. You really ought to get this on a DVD for the Guild's collection to be appreciated by a wider audience!

Hi Rod,
More videos, yes please especially if you can repeat the one with the train-cam. More than that, I think you should be collaring Chris Simpson to do a video for the Guild: looking through the catalogue there does not appear to be anything to compare with WKT. O.K. your scenery is not complete yet but there is already a wealth of good things there worthy of a wider audience. And Chris can always come back to do another later ..... when you have "finished" it. An hour-long DVD would allow you to run quite a complex sequence.
On the matter of Photoshop-ping there is a free manipulation program out there; go to gimp.org. It's been getting more sophisticated over the years and probably demands a fair bit of time and effort to get into it to use it properly - I've not tried recently and it could take too much of your time away from scenery building. An alternative is to get a couple of photos you particularly want to show off done professionally. There is a firm called Photo First Aid over at New Longton. They handle all audio, photo and film media and I used them about five years ago for repairing some 40+ year old degraded colour transparencies and putting them on disc. Their charges were very reasonable but that may have changed with their increasing client base. Have a look at their website.
Thanks for the enjoyment you give us.

Hi Rod,
About your golf course .... a fellow modeller down here has a similar problem to yours of restricted space for his scenic background. He has resorted to using mirrors to create extra depth. Of course you have to be careful about not reflecting the trains as they pass (angle of incidence equals angle of reflection and all that) but by placing them behind hedges or buildings he can gain extra depth. Also, he found a local glazier who just happened to have some small, cheap off-cuts of mirror from a large installation he had done. Maybe worth a thought.
Or you could always substitute an archery range!

I've just picked up on the video. Another masterpiece of how a model railway should be operated. And I am impressed with the range of sound effects built into the decoder (which I assume does not include the Station Supervisor - yet)
Never mind the imperfections of the layout, a very good introduction to the role for would-be second men! Mind you, it must be a patient driver supervising there: I heard no expletives being uttered and no references to early-onset dementia during the video.
As for those minor improvements, might it be worth having a word with Network Rail to see if they have any flexibility in Control Period 6 to fund the work?
I await the “bloopers and out-takes” - could there be some expletives then?
