Just one question: What part of the forum did you move my topic to?
-
I've already posted my question in another part of the forum but felt it was in the wrong category, so maybe here would be suited!
So the question I would like to ask is: Can anyone provide me the correct diameter of the Timken Axle box cover plate that is fitted to the Class 71 & 74's please?

If you can't see it in photos who cares?
These bogies always struck me as being particularly dull, even for wagon bogies...
Can anyone supply information who manufactured the axle box for the Schlieren please?

Dear Anonymous
I would much prefer you to link to my photos than post them on here. RMWeb members are very good about this request. http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/murcotea/e368afd14
Paul
My apologies, but as they where freely available on the web I honestly didn't realise I would offend by posting one on here especially as it had your name written on it.

Hi Jon
You are an absolute star.
Those pictures are so far without any doubt the best I have seen taken of these bogies. and will be an asset to my project.
Thank you for posting them.
Kind regards

After much time spent surfing the web trying to find detailed drawings & pictures etc of the Schlieren bogie pictured below I have now practically hit a brick wall ! So I'm really hoping that someone here can help me.
Close up pictures of its construction is what I am after especially the underside. Also information of anyone knowing of a depot in the South East or neighbouring counties that has rolling stock on its sidings which have these bogies.
Although pretty much that is out there on the web I have seen scouring google images etc, but any kind of information connected to the Schlieren you feel would be helpful to me will be really appreciated.

This is available on shapeways.
Remember N thusiast Resprays selling a kit back in the late 1990's
Thanks for the heads up, but I've checked Shapeways website and they haven't got the POA wagon with the extended headstocks.

Does anyone know the sizes of the steel girders that were used for the sides of the open scrap wagon? All drawings and sketches I have come across on the web don't have this information, Google can't help me and I'd really like to know!
Cheers

I'm currently involved in modelling a POA Sheerness Scrap Steel open wagon, what I desperately need is a drawing or photo of the chassis configuration, especially the diagrammatic layout of the longitude beams and cross bearers.
Can anyone help me please?

If your doing the earlier pxa pr 3000 - 7 there was a 4mm drawing in a demu update magazine, if you require it ,I'll pm you
Regards baz
Yes please Baz that would be very much appreciated, amongst other things I am particularly interested on the chassis arrangement i.e. the diagrammatic layout of the bearers etc.
Many thanks

Hi Dave, see here for document which has the drawings in. http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/Prototype.html
The one you need is in the Freight vehicles section and labelled BRB Vehicle Diagram Book No.300 (Part 1) The blue cover.
Its one of the last drawings in this book, I found it by chance as I am also planning on doing some later this year to run on Dallam.
Cheers
Simon
Many thanks Simon...your an absolute star m8. I didn't know about that site, what an amazing link.

Hi once more gents,
Thank you very much for your helpful replies. After a break I have returned to my 47 project and dug up what I can see to be three different arrangements/applications regarding the boxes. What I would like to ask you guys, for each application was there any specific title or part No etc given to each fitting?

Thanks for the response guys. Any more info on the 47 battery boxes?
-
My advice Dave is to use http://www.class47.co.uk/ and Flickr to research your chosen loco/s .
Thanks for the link which has provided this picture...Would I be correct in assuming these are short range tanks fitted?

Can anyone please advise me on what the different arrangements were and on what running numbers they were fitted to?
Any info regarding this subject will be very much appreciated.

Dave

Third rail looks good Richard, the layout is starting to really take shape now.

For fitting a third rail have you seen my topic on "Connecting Modular Layout" ? I found it very easy to solder rails to screws using low melt solder Lash, it's not hard to do take a look here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/66995-connecting-modular-layout/?p=929147

Layout's looking good lash, every time I log now I always check to see if you have made a new post in your thread! Getting back to the buses though here's a good one about the Provys ,http://www.regent8.co.uk/ a few good early pictures there and one of Gosport ferry gardens 1960. I remember catching buses from there to go down the Stoke road.
Back then my father used to work for Western National Bus Co and drove these!

I have a few Queeny's too Lash.....Do you remember the trolly busses, its funny some of my earliest memories of Portsmouth was riding on these and seeing hanging baskets every where!

A good choice of retail therapy Lash, not forgetting also that maroon livery was used in southern network, I can remember catching a train from the harbour to Southampton for a visit to the swimming baths around 64, they were probably Maroon mk1's.
Anyway a little bit more colour will give more contrast!

Great work Ross.
One question and something I may have overlooked when reading your post's. What about weight? The Dapol Hall loco body is filled with white metal, will this fit into your N15?
