In 7mm I went with L&B livery as I think it is far more attractive. In 009 I did a 50/50 split so I can run L&B, Southern and preservation eras. I'm not a purist, so any detail differences across the various eras doesn't bother me. 

Looking at the faux teak versions, I noticed the running numbers are E17E and E19E and no LNER lettering. Does this mean they are BR liveried and not LNER ? Did they ever receive LNER lettering ? 

The SECR green livery is my favourite, so I'll definitely be up for one of those.

Awesome ! Time to retire my old Hornby examples. Definitely get both GN liveries and probably an LNER job too. 😁

My Taw in late L&B livery arrived from Rails of Sheffield on Sunday. Tis a thing of beauty.

No carriages yet though.

Better get my finger out building the layout for them 😃

Still waiting for Hornby to do the post WW II LNER livery of blue, without vallances, stainless steel lettering  and re-numbering from 1 to 34. Don't care which member of the family they pick. Then my collection of LNER A4s will be complete. 1 grey, 1 green, 1 black, 1 blue with gold/red/black lettering and 1 Coronation livery.  

To my eyes the GNR grey looks rather light, more like the 'photographic grey' used in the works photos. IIRC GN freight grey was referred to as Charcoal Grey and is hard to distinguish from black in period photos.

Yes it is correct. Bear in mind there were no internal dividers in 3rd class 4 wheelers. The suburban brake only has one light for all three 'compartments'. I believe when they switched to gas lighting , they switched to 3 lights, one for each bank of seats.

My 4 pack of Great Northern Genesis carriages arrived today.

Wow ! For my money, the best representation of teak on a RTR model so far. Scale , grain effect and colour all look stunning, and the overall appearance of the models make the competition look rather toy like in comparison.

So on the Hornby website these are listed as unavailable. Does this mean sold out or not yet available to pre-order.

That's a nice mahogany effect on there Ian. Dapols rather blotchy interpretation is what's putting me off pre-ordering a rake of these for my Terriers.

Just been told by East Midlands Trains that due to Industrial Action on the 26th there will be no trains between London and the NEC and a rubbish service on the 27th and that I should apply for a refund on my pre-booked ticket 🤬

Good job I didn't pre-pay for the show itself .

Oh well, 2023 then.

Good shout but a LNER Gresley J6 would be fill a gap. Most of the other pre grouping railway have a rtr 0-6-0 tender loco but the GNR does not. They were used over a wide area of the GNR, LNER, BR(e) system.

 

I think the J39 was slated for a re-tool (or possibly a re-chassis) a few years ago but was then cancelled by Bachmann. Good call on the J6 though

I have the SECR version with black frames. It's a very nice model but doesn't feel like fifty quids worth.

Just got the 'Dispatched' email from Rails

Rails took the money for my pre-order on 22nd so they're on the way chaps 🥳

Livery samples for the carriages just been released. L&B early and late and Southern for all three coach types. Look awesome, and under £100 on Hattons and other sites.

The patterned fabric effect on the seats is a nice touch. Almost a shame to cover it with people.  

Had this on pre-order with Rails for over 3 years now.

Really hope it's been worth the wait.

If the kit is Laser cut and 3D printed, scaling the CAD files should be no problem at all. Many 3D printers and laser cutting companies offer scale changes at no extra cost, unless you are scaling up and therefore using more resin or card.

The station in the first pic is a lovely building, but at nearly £300 for a card kit it's too rich for my pocket.😲

Hopefully they'll finish my GWR small prairie before starting this one 🤔
