  1. Exactly, no benefit, as demonstrated. And yes, as you point out, for us P4 modellers it’s a PITA. Far more hassle than they are worth.
  2. They are an as-built variation of RSH built locos and not something that was added later.
  3. I can confirm that I have received a set myself, a couple of weeks back. So they are indeed available.
  4. As noted by Fran, I have received a settlement offer for my troubles, which is appreciated. I shall be trying some of the Accurascale produced decals alongside the ones I have produced and will post some updates on my remediation work.
  5. From my point of view, this method is perfectly adequate. I am aware of the respective qualities of IPA and T-cut - pretty much all my locos are repainted so have a fair amount of experience in what works and what doesn’t. Incidentally, IPA (for example) still removes the rather ‘soft’ paint finish on these wagons so no particularly advantage in using it over enamel thinner.
  6. Well after some back and forth and the odd, ahem, unfulfilled promise let’s say (and £60 later) I have had these drawn up and printed. Can’t say I am looking forward to the hours involved in fixing this but at least there’s a solution available for anyone who wants to do it. The procedure I used to remove the incorrectly applied branding was enamel thinner and a small hard cotton bud. Incidentally the paint isn’t great and you will have to be quite careful to avoid the need to patch paint (I was doing a Hornby 60 renumber alongside and found the paintwork to be more durable). These are ALPS printed onto film so you’d be well advised to put down a nice smooth gloss coat to hide as much carrier film (and cut them out close to the print of course). Another couple of coats of gloss and a light rub down with 3000 grit should unify everything. Anyway, hope that helps?
  7. Nothing to say that hasn’t already been said and since nothing has changed with what’s been delivered vs what was on display the other month there’s nowt to discuss. Plus most people don’t care so….🤷🏼‍♂️
  8. I would be interested to know what you are fettling as I have a couple on the go and have improved a few areas as well as made some changes to fit a specific prototype example (but perhaps that’s for another part of the forum). On price, for me the difference is in the wash now - I picked up my examples of the other model for £180 posted.
  9. I’m a big fan of canopy glue or ‘glue and glaze’. It’s a safer bet than any clear coat as it’s super easy to clean off with water.
  10. Bang up job there - the ultimate windscreen combination, Bachmann new tool and EE lazerglaze. Looking forward to adding these to my repaints next week.
  11. Well it’s a bit late by the time the model has arrive in your hands.
  12. For anyone interested - I am getting these drawn up off my own back now (and yes that will have to include paying someone to do the artwork from scratch…..). I will post up somewhere here my results and how I get on with the fix once I receive them. These will be freshly produced to an up to date standard (ie not decades old and intended for the superseded model). Shame to have to have waste time, effort and money to fix what is otherwise a very good model but there we are.
  13. As I am getting around to converting these etc I’m going to dredge up the livery application error with the BSSW variant. I am going to get some new decals made (yes I am aware that one vendor does them but I do not intend to purchase from this source) can I request access to the relevant Accurascale drawing files for the British Steel lettering along side the S logo and arrow element please? (Unless I have missed someone else producing replacements). thanks in advance.
  14. Oh yes. Judging by the 56 samples this will be a treat.
  15. Prototype pic I took at Hinksey a few years back. Must say do like them in NR yellow. Might have to consider a re-livery of mine.
  16. Absolutely. Kissed good bye to a chunk of change with this project. Not a model of funding I will ever support again either, including up front deposits (even from apparently established companies). Mr Leathers should have put in an appearance to explain what happened in my view.
  17. Well there’s your answer looks like pre-order folks will know what they are getting end of Feb before delivery the next month.
  18. Agree. At this stage a final production sample or photo thereof should be available. That yellow comparison is another good example of where improvements are highly desirable.
  19. People aren’t forgetting it……. Bachmann have got the windscreen spot on in my view whereas the other one looks wrong in a number of areas around the windscreen and the fit on all samples I have seen is poor. This one is from Warley. Of course the old “it’s a hand made” sample defence will likely be trotted out but this late in the day I’d expect a bang on production sample. So, I have to say I agree with Daddyman.
  20. Indeed. My existing Coil A’s, called they’d like a new chassis to make conversion to P4 straightforward…….
  21. Picked up my first batch of these. I have to say they are mint. Apart from being a superb rendition of the real thing they have been a doddle to convert to P4. Great to see the promise to deliver a P4/EM compatible HAA carried through. Dropped a set of Blackbeetle’s in and we are off. Superb.
  22. They did some mods to depict the 2 Ruston machines. As for the Mirlees powered ones….a bit of modelling currently needed for that….but it can be done!
