4 Function or 6 Function locos. How do I find out?
beejack replied to Damo666's topic in DCC Help & Questions
This only relates to the standard + V2 decoder, the original was only 3 functions. -
Lastest firmware version is 1.65B. and can be had for around £30 from either Coastal DCC (out of stock) or Digitrains. It appears the mabrane and thumbwheel encoder are only available from coastal dcc in this country unless someone else knows differently but only the encoder is in stock at the moment.

Bachmann 108 Single Decoder Lighting Issue
beejack replied to lincolnshiremodeller's topic in DCC Fitting Guides
I would say the issue is that on DCC you have AC power and the leds are in fact flashing alternatively but so fast you cannot see it with the naked eye. on DC everything works normal as there is a diode circuit to only show the red or white light as required. -
The middle one has LS4 on the PCB so I would say it is a loksound v4.

Cannot get any response from my first try at DCC
beejack replied to SquiddlyDiddly's topic in DCC Help & Questions
A few things to check if you haven't already! 1. Is the red light on the panel illuminated? 2. Are you using the flat lead in the left socket with the led at the bottom? 3. Are you trying to read a CV using program on the main? if so this wont read a Cv only allow you to write to it. I would try the following if you haven't already 1. Press Prog/esc button. 2. press 4 and enter. 3. press 1 and wait for the power cab to read the decoder info. 4. if successful follow the on screen prompts to change the address. If the following the above you can't read the decoder manufaturers id, then it is probably a faulty power cab. One thing you could check before sending it back is to check the eprom is fully inserted into its socket. To do this you'll have to remove the back cover but worth doing before you send it back. sometimes chips can be dislodged in transit. There are 8 screws to remove, 7 around the edge and one in the middle near the top. The smaller screw at the bottom on the thin cover can be left as is this an unused battery box. -

As the exhibition was last year and was a success, it probably wasn't that much of an issue.

I'm suprised no one has commented on the lack of links on the WOR digital copy of Feb's BRM. There's no click boxes on the front cover or is it just me?
