  1. Come to thing of it, I had two identical K1s because of that...fortunately I sold one on for what I paid for it.
  2. I did the same with the SECR liveried H class when they first appeared. Was on the point of emailing my "dealer" when I realised
  3. Mine got around my innermost circuit, which has a short section of flexi less than 3rd radius set track. Makes a big difference to the appearance.
  4. I've just ordered a late crest DC one from Derails, so they're still available.
  5. No... but you have missed a clip of him playing trains on the previous page...:)
  6. Seen on 12/4/86 at Esk Cottages (probably) and Pickering.
  7. Blimey, I didn't think the Terriers were THAT old
  8. I won't. There's far bigger things going on in the world....
  9. I always thought it was a myth about Australia....until I saw these pictures
  10. Fair enough, I'll shuffle off then.....

  12. Ah, thank you. I was thinking back nearly 40 years to my 6th form days in the area.
  13. Complete with a Fowler diesel, and decent tea and cake....
  14. Doolittle and Dally was a firm of solicitors in Stourbridge when I was growing up near there. There is an estate agents in Newport, Gwent called Crook and Blight. According to the Goodies, there was a firm of solicitors called Boots, Boots, Boots, Boots, Marching Upanddownagain.

  16. Yes, it was just a typo. Thanks, I've corrected it. 009 was a bit of a celeb as the last vac only one. I remember thinking 015s train was odd even then!
  17. Seen here at Carlisle on 18th April 84. Looks like a wisp of steam emerging and there is a steam heat pipe on the buffer beam.
  18. A few from August 1984, mostly on a North West Rover ticket: 40150 Preston. 15/8/84 40082 Man Vic 15/8/84 40009 Preston. 16/8/84 40155 Preston 18/8/84 40194 ? 18/8/84 40118 Arpley 20/8/84 40015 Chester 20/8/84 40013 Chester 20/8/84 40004 Doncaster 23/8/84 40044 Arpley 24/8/84 I've got plenty more from 84-86 if people would like to see them, and a few preserved ones as well.
  19. That is most interesting! Sold my 6 or 7 older ones ages ago to maximise their value before the newer ones flooded the market, so hadn't seen them together.
  20. I have two Hornby Terriers, 32655 (2nd hand and detailed) and "Rolvenden"; and Rails/ Dapol "Boxhill". None have any noticeable defects and all run well, although Boxhill is slightly noisier. No significant differences in slow speed running or haulage abilities (haven't spent too long studying these, as they are all good enough for my purposes). I seem to be slightly lucky with the ones I have. However, although my "Boxhill" fits together well, and the running plate is completely straight, the join in the cab roof is slightly distracting, although it fits as well as it can. The copper chimney cap fits better on the Hornby one and seems better proportioned, but it's marginal. The representation of the motion between the frames on "Boxhill" is nice, but the flickering firebox glow is a bit bright on DC, even at slowish speeds, and I could do without it (seems brighter than the B4, from memory, haven't dug that out to check it). Is the Rails/Dapol version worth the extra cost for me? Probably not, especially as the Hornby ones are available for £70ish from some places (and I paid £57 and £61 for mine) but I'm no expert on Terriers. Your money, your choice.
  21. That's because they are wrong.......
  22. Ah, that would make sense, as I went to Weymouth a couple of times with 31s in the early 2000s....I'd forgotten that.
  23. I've contacted a couple of sellers recently in that situation, and they've happily combined postage.
  24. There was a Saturday 31 t and t train into 2004, seen here on 2nd Jan 04 at Bath. Can't remember the destination though...
