Hi guys Im the new exhibition manager of the Somerset Railway Modellers Show at Taunton school, I am looking for good quality layouts for this year and following years, having never been a show manager I need all suggestions and advise!
My newest layout is based on the old oak turntable, it is a way of showcasing my sizeable collection of oo gauge locomotives, I have amassed a selection of Dapol Westerns, NBL type 2s, Heljan hymeks and Bachmann Warships, all of which will be detailed and weathered, also there are some diesel electrics to keep the feel of the late 1960s and early 1970s engines that can be gathered around the table between duties, the layout has already been booked to appear at two shows and thanks to the help of my friends is progressing well, the loco roster has reached over 50 so I have some detailing and weathering to do......!!
Seven ash is nearly complete, ready for Taunton railex, my thanks go to Jack, Ian, Toby(George) Martin,Cameron, Darren & Tom without whom the layout would not be complete, so here is to them, come and see the layout at Rail ex over the weekend of 22nd&23rd October. The loco roster boasts 12 Westerns, 7 Warships, 7 Hymeks, 7 Baby warships, 3brush type 2s,2 brush type 4s, a Crompton type 3, an English electric type 3&4, a 350hp shunter and falcon, all weathered, renamed and renumbered to pretops condition.[attaent=763346:14689189_10211221783724003_952032385_o.jpg]
Just a quick update, last Friday 31/3/17 seven Ash was papped ready for an apperance in Hornby magazine, the issues with the turntable have been resolved so the layout is fully functional ready for its appearance at Derbys roundhouse on the 6/5/17 & 7/5/17, taking the pride of the western region to the heart of the Midland!
We have been invited to attend the last ever open day at Old Oak Common, as this is where the layout is based on its a real privilege to be invited to go to the prototype place of my layout, please come and see us in the wheel lathe machine shed next to a hst power car..... Check the website www.oocopenday.com Look forward to seeing some of you there, come and say hello.
