  1. Bachmann haven't provided a driver & Fireman for years - and IIFC none of their "Blue Ribbon" release have ever had them, only the split chassis designs dating back at least a decade.

If you require a set of crew there are plenty of options out there at a range of prices.

I think what Chris was asking was which side to fit a driver and fire man from Bachmanns loco crew set.

  2. This is probably a stupid question but I just read in the Hornby magazine review that the review model had an LMS builders plate, why would they not have a midland plate ?

  3. Re the Bachmann 39-460 LMS 57 ft Porthole Corridor Brake 3rd BR Crimson & Cream:

The latest reports say that these coaches are “having to be sent back to China to be re-worked.”

I wonder if anyone from Bachmann might care to enlighten those of us who are eager to get one, what the problem is and how long this might take?

Bachmann home pages now reports that they have been returned to china after the discovery of decoration issues, not due till next year now.

  4. For those wanting a BR maroon Inspection Saloon, I suggest removal of the LMS insignia and the yellow line below the gutter, then apply BR insignia. A darn sight easier than brush painting and lining etc!

They are due to release a BR maroon version in September

  5. Ha Ha. Have you seen a rake of coaches in Crimson and Cream, unless straight out of the paint shop no two be the same, so variation in colour I don't think will really matter as reality goes. \But then again in an ideal world !

Ah ok , fair point, what I should have said was will they look right running alongside Hornby coaches ?

38-600                   21 Ton Grain Hopper BR Grey

38-601                   21 Ton Grain Hopper BR Bauxite                (Early)

38-602                   21 Ton Grain Hopper BR Bauxite (Late)

38-601 seems to have changed from early bauxite to BR Grey (TOPS)

  7. Hi Dave

Have you been approached by any of the preserved railways regarding J94 commissions, there seems to loads still running ?

    Phil

  8. Should be OK for mid-'50s. Any repaints into the darker maroon wouldn't have happened before 1956 and many would have been somewhat later.

    Thanks John
