Bachmann haven't provided a driver & Fireman for years - and IIFC none of their "Blue Ribbon" release have ever had them, only the split chassis designs dating back at least a decade.
If you require a set of crew there are plenty of options out there at a range of prices.
I think what Chris was asking was which side to fit a driver and fire man from Bachmanns loco crew set.

Crafty Hobbies in Barrow had both versions in stock yesterday.

This is probably a stupid question but I just read in the Hornby magazine review that the review model had an LMS builders plate, why would they not have a midland plate ?

Is this going into the main range, or just for collectors club first ?

Re the Bachmann 39-460 LMS 57 ft Porthole Corridor Brake 3rd BR Crimson & Cream:
The latest reports say that these coaches are “having to be sent back to China to be re-worked.”
I wonder if anyone from Bachmann might care to enlighten those of us who are eager to get one, what the problem is and how long this might take?
Bachmann home pages now reports that they have been returned to china after the discovery of decoration issues, not due till next year now.

As I see it, the equivalent in the loco sense would be to cross the said Terrier with say a Jinty!
Is that not what Hornby did with there oo jinty ?

For those wanting a BR maroon Inspection Saloon, I suggest removal of the LMS insignia and the yellow line below the gutter, then apply BR insignia. A darn sight easier than brush painting and lining etc!
They are due to release a BR maroon version in September

Oh yes please, well done Dave

Bachmann Porthole carriage.jpg
I hope this shows how close Bachmann's and Hornby's rendition of carmine and cream is. Also shown for comparison is an old Mainline Composite.
The picture was taken using 'daylight' lights, with a burst of fill-in flash to soften the shadows.
That's brill thanks Tony, no problem running mixed rakes then

Ha Ha. Have you seen a rake of coaches in Crimson and Cream, unless straight out of the paint shop no two be the same, so variation in colour I don't think will really matter as reality goes. \But then again in an ideal world !
Ah ok , fair point, what I should have said was will they look right running alongside Hornby coaches ?

Can anyone confirm if the colour will match Hornby Staniers in crimson and cream ?

38-600 21 Ton Grain Hopper BR Grey
38-601 21 Ton Grain Hopper BR Bauxite (Early)
38-602 21 Ton Grain Hopper BR Bauxite (Late)
38-601 seems to have changed from early bauxite to BR Grey (TOPS)

Or
Leading to a massive pile of T9s at Waterloo and none anywhere else?
Oh, it's rare and currently at £147.90.
I ask in all innocence - is that a reasonable price?
In his defense, he started it at 99p

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but when did the mk1 CCT enter service ?

Hi Phil.
I am not sure. I will try and have a look next week if I get down there.
Thanks
Ian
Thanks Ian, keep the pictures coming, they're great

Hi Ian,
Do you know if the fireless loco in the 3rd picture is the ex-Glaxo Ulverston one.

Should be OK for mid-'50s. Any repaints into the darker maroon wouldn't have happened before 1956 and many would have been somewhat later.
John
Thanks John

A really basic question here, but is it suitable in crimson for the mid 1950's period or is more for post 58 ?

Someone asked earlier about Maryport & Carlisle? I have found a picture of one at Coniston - getting closer
http://chasewaterstuff.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/coniston1.jpg?w=800
There were two sheded at Barrow to work the Coniston Branch from LMS days into Nationalisation, 10644 + 10645 then numbered 50644 and 50645 they left in 1951 and 1952
