  1. After visiting the layout many times over the last two days, I finally had the chance, tonight, to watch the DVD after purchasing Saturday morning. The layout is fantastic and the DVD shows the love and care that went into making it. Thank you for finally allowing me to see the whole layout. My favourite time of visiting was Sunday morning withTony Wright on the shed. While he was operating he was talking to an acquaintance of his and giving a little bit of a commentary, Tony should do a commentary for the entire running sequence.
  2. Or, and hear me out on this one, a simple plastic chassis kit with metal wheels, bushes, motor and premise pickup plates and no soldering needed to make up to a working model. Obviously make this as a separate kit to the plastic body to help spread the cost over two purchases of required.
  3. If you had it at same level of the buffers it would buffer lock on any of the curves Hornby produce. Remember that Hornby's product needs to go round their set track.
  4. Also the split spoke wheels do a lot for these models too. Just goes to show that older products can still look with with minimal upgrading.
  5. Are the new Peco ones in boxes like the ratio kits or are they bagged like the old Parkside Dundas kits?
  6. John Dutfield in Chelmsford has them as well. Speaking to Ken in there yesterday he was saying that if only the Kirk LNER stuff could be done too they'd sell loads of them... to me.
  7. Pete, Thank you so much for your quick response, those instructions were just what I wanted. Paul
  8. I have recently aquired a part built Kirk Quad Art and of course there were no instructions included. I was hoping that one of you kind people on here has a copy that can be scanned and messaged to me? I would be eternally grateful to anyone who can help. Many thanks Paul
  9. I love this thread it has everything from railways to work life and dramas at home to modelling lol, but seriously I like this this thread because you do such a fine job. If it's any consolation in restoring a Parkside Dundas LNER Wagon in 00 that I bought second hand... it's taking me almost as long as you on the real thing!
  10. To me the arc of the roof looks to big on these coaches, they need to be flatter more akin to the clerestories.
  11. Received 4 wagons in the post today, excellent products and excellent service throughout. Please do give them a go!
  12. That looks amazing so far... makes me want to do it to my my own J52 as I've never been happy with the running from it.
  13. Wouldn't the chimney on the traction engine be removed for transportation by rail? I'm sure I've seen pics somewhere. I must admit I rather enjoyed this blog thank you
  14. You'll find that the coach is a Hornby job. It was used in the Great Race sets which were battery powered (the Annie coach had a motor and would push along Thomas).
  15. Two Resturant Triplets went for nearly £70 each last week... I was disappointed as that is one on my list and my max price was £60 As for NER hoppers the price of the Slaters kit second hand has put me off making up a decent rake of them.
  16. I have been buying the Kirk LNER coaches in eBay when I can get them at a price I can afford they do crop up occasionally. I much prefer working in plastic then metal and I for one do miss the range... I much prefer building the coaches then opening a box.
  17. To which I say, the current Hornby Gresleys are rife with errors and I can say as I would not even consider spending £60 on a coach just to cut it up... whereas I would pick up a kit for £20-£40 in plastic to build and paint myself.
  18. I popped over a few times today for up to twenty mins at a time and throughly enjoyed it and I shall definitely be back tomorrow for more!
  19. Ooooooh lovely... that would be a treat for both of us then well mostly me!
  20. Good luck at the show, no doubt I'll be over a few times to watch it over the weekend as I'm working on The Kirmaster Collectors Club stand and I've wanted to view Grantham in the flesh for ages.
  21. I would be interested in photos, as I have a Book Law that needs remedial work too. As I haven't taken any A1/A3 apart before all helpful references would be gratefully received.
  22. Mine has arrived and a thing of beauty she is too! Very nice model and I'm glad I bought it, nicely detailed and the yellow isn't garish at all, fantastic job by DJ models... I look forward too seeing future delevopments.
  23. D'oh thats what you get when you mix up the orders..... I was ordering the RMWeb one at the same time mixed up the dispatch dates. Oops
