  1. Just had my Paypal Invoice for Wilbert and an email saying it's ready for dispatch tomorrow needless to say mine has duly been paid! Can't wait
  2. I would like to see the Ian Kirk 4mm LNER coach kits again, I've got some second hand ones that I've repaired and repainted and I've enjoyed it so much that I wish I could find a full kit at a decent price
  3. If they are retooling does this mean it won't fit to the current turntables also any ideas on price etc?I know of two that need motorisation.
  4. Tony, that looks marvellous! The worst thing that we modellers do is put our own skills down thinking they aren't good enough, believe me suffering from depression means I put myself down all the time. Perhaps we should all look at our work with fresh eyes and think to ourselves that maybe it's not so bad after all, if we think it could be improved do so, thus building up both skill and confidence. Paul
  5. Why has Hornby decided to go with gloss? I was really hoping to pick up this set but now I have doubts as it won't fit in with my other LNER Pacifics also is it me or was this blog just an advert for this set? 6. Funnily enough I have a very similar resolution. In order to get a head on everything I've had to enter every model I own on a database, with notes on what needs doing and what's already been done.... As I use 3 link couplings there is a surprising amount of my models I still need to fit them too! Though I have bought one more kit last weekend but that's already built and had the first coat of paint.
  7. I too got an email and it does indeed look amazing.... And it's just the 1st painted sample! The email said there are a few changes to be made before the 2nd sample, looking forward to this one.
  8. Browsing the modelling mags this morning I noticed a couple with Hornby's "new" range advert... where they use exactly the same promotional pics as the "old" range. To really sell the range you would have thought that Hornby would have pulled out the stops to show off what differences there are. The adverts are in magazines aimed at serious modellers and not kids mags, these are the people who want to know the difference so they can upgrade etc. First you replace the catalogue with an inferior product then you don't even bother to use new pictures to show off a new range, I'm always been pro Hornby but just lately...
  9. My LNER liveried one arrived this afternoon, I couldn't resist running it on the small bit of track I have temporarily wired and am pleased to say that she runs as beautifully as she looks. Hornby have done it again
  10. Track laying has finally concluded on my new layout! now electrics... not my forte

    1. Mallard60022

      Mallard60022

      Yes, I know that feeling......

  11. Track laying has finally concluded on my new layout! now the long process of electrics... not my forte

  12. Track laying has finally concluded on my new roundy roundy layout! now the long process of electrics... not my forte

  13. Track laying has finally concluded on my new roundy roundy layout! now the long process of electrics... not my forte

  14. Would it not be feasible to mount the motor vertically on the back axle at all? If not as you are a master at scratch building could you not make up a gearbox that positions the motor higher up in the boiler?
  15. My LNER liveried one arrived today after a drunken decision to use my bonus money to buy one... It was a decision I have not regretted it is a beautiful model. I've only had it out the box for a quick forwards/backwards run to test and I'm not disappointed. Well done to all involved
  16. Ay up! In the latest subs batch of four mags finally have one axle and two driving wheels ( spread over two non consecutive issues). Wonder when the other two will turn up?
  17. The five J15s with tender cabs ran on the Colne Valley Line due to the line not having any turntables, there are more differences to the actual cab in the loco I strongly recommend the Yeadons on J15s as there is a picture on page 31. Also during the war the tenders on some locos had tarpaulins fixed on a metal frame from the tender, at some depots weatherboards were put up on the tenders. There is a lot of variation in this class so as with any models research is needed and make sure you have plenty of pictures.
  18. Obviously rule 2 would be; if it looks right, it is right
  19. HIT has always squeezed every penny they can out of licensing Thomas and Friends and they also had strict guidelines ( just ask any preserved railway who have hosted a Day Out with Thomas event) I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hornby have been told to change the range to fit more with HITs guidelines or lose the license, Hornby need all the money they can get at the moment and wether modellers like it or not Thomas makes Hornby a good bit of money. I'm actually looking forward to seeing just what is going on with the range.
  20. It'll probably be the current tooling with new cgi era faces and the tender locos revamped to loco drive, I look forward to seeing if I'm right
  21. Typical of Hornby to release a tank engine class I already have an example of. Won't stop me buying one though
  22. Just sitting in front of Grantham as I type this, I was impressed by the pictures but in real life it is captivating. I look forward to seeing the whole layout as it just so happens to be the right period for me. Not to mention lots of nice stock. Keep up the great work
  23. Issues 4 through 7 arrived this morning I didn't have much of a chance to look at the parts in depth but part 7 has one half of the chassis. Also a binder, the mallard coasters and magnifier glass came with them.
  24. My issue 2 and 3 arrived today along with the a3 poster and the letter saying the magnifying glass is out of stock but should follow at a later date
