Thanks! I’m trying hard to get everything up to my standard, which my not match everyone else’s, but you have to I’m somewhere, and not being afraid to try is half the battle.
The Association 16t is a fun build, I’ve a few of them on the go, and a couple of variations. They’ll be starring here soon. I can highly recommend the Association in general, and Nick Mitchell’s videos of his build:
come over to the small side, you’ll love it!

I think the signal man will report train parted... No guards van.. Come to that no instanter or vacuum brake hoses either, as they are XPress rated.
Good modelling, what couplers are you intending to use?
Thanks
No still some decisions to make, I had intended to use DGs, but so far we are not getting on. May go (crazy) for 3 link yet, but some maybe semi permanently joined.
The brake van is on the books, but first attempt didn’t go well, I’ll be looking at it again soon enough...
cheers

Congratulations, nothing like reaching an intermediate goal like this, keeps up the motivation I think.
Nice idea for a stockbox. I'm wondering about the numbering, do those match the van numbers somehow?
Thanks Mikkel and it’s true about motivation. The stock box just holds the bits while I’m working, the numbers relate to the order they entered the system, I keep a matrix so I know which wagon has which type of chassis and wheels etc, eg #13 has no chassis yet as it’s due to have a more complex brake arrangement one, and I haven’t started it yet.
The box also has a bigger compartment at the end to hold odds and ends, as yet unallocated parts. This is part of the enjoyment of building for me somehow.

Thanks, it took yonks to get it right... I use 2 ikea swan neck spots, very bright, and a swan neck magnifying glass that I can get right in close too, seems to work. I occasionally use clip on things for my specs, but less happy with these.
no progress yet, may have to take a gear or two out. May also be the worm moving, not sure if that’s the cause or a symptom.

Oh no! Just saw your comment, too late... I have such a lovely job of the trimming and quartering too. This is most bothersome indeed. I should have checked ahead, but it didn’t seem to be any different in the instructions and articles I have. Oh well, I’ll go and check.... thanks for the heads up though, I’ll update the blog in due course.

Thanks Rich, I will try the layering method you describe, I don’t have an RSU, but I can use a wooden pointy thing to good effect. Pictures soon I hope.

Pete I’ve just read this after several days of reading about fantastic 7mil builds over on WT, and i am sorely tempted, though I don’t think my budget can stand it, I should stick to 2FS(oh and 16mm and 7/8ths too...) but will follow with interest.
Cheers

Good work!

This looks like a great idea Pete. I'll be interested in any solutions to the hight issue, I have plans for a DJLC entry that needs to be viewed from a certain hight, so I imagine that some overall hight adjustments may be needed. Something like an ironing board, but smoother in adjustment would do.
Cheers

Yes to jewellery stores, I think I got mine on eBay, I bought the stainless pins separately.
The pads come in all shapes and sizes.
