The loco is a good weight and feels very solid.

The gap under the tank is worse on the right hand side on this loco. I note that the instructions recommend not removing the body from the chassis at all and that even if you do the running plate would come with it and have to be further removed to try to understand the gap.

 

There's no allowance for a big speaker anywhere in the model - the sugarcube and it's tiny enclosure clipped under the decoder PCB is the only standard sound facility. I'll be looking to cut away the bunker floor to make room for something bigger.

Am just following this thread and have found this video when it visited the SVR in 2011 

I've just received mine fitted with a Loksound micro 5 decoder with stay-alive and a sugar cube speaker, all in the tender, from Olivia's trains. This means that the water barrel sits about 5mm higher in the tender and the coke load is tilted rather than flat, but to me that's an acceptable compromise as it sounds fine to me and runs smoothly.

Can anyone point me to where there's a full specification of the model?  For example is it fitted with a speaker or has firebox flicker?

I think the 32-040DS Class 20 has the v3.5 sound chip as an eBay auction mentionned that it had 100 ohm speakers.
