  1. I had a chance to do a few bits.. Having sprayed it, you can see the PVA mix flows so much better into the ballast, so thanks. Question now is, did I have enough PVA in the mix.
  2. I've seen the spreaders.. If I were building a larger layout that I might have invested...
  3. That's a no Andy... So that's what I'll try tomorrow!
  4. South Devon maybe? http://southdevonrailwayassociation.org/Wagon-Photographs-GWR.html
  5. I've a very white couple of minks.. They look very smart! But I bet they went grey almost before they were loaded the first time!
  6. Figured as much... Oh well, mine are grey now! I've a fish bloater and a python that I've also got in grey.. Maybe they need to be white.
  7. I've been doing battle with a few jobs around the layout.. Mainly balasting, which hasn't been going well!! I used the normal PVA method, left for a few days and then tided up. Large chunks of it lifted! Then I tried to fill in the holes with ballast magic, which worked and some other chunks came up! Driving me mad! The ballast magic works well, but at a mix of 7-1 of ballast you use a lot very quickly. I've also given the station fence a second coat and built some station signs. It's looking quite smart, if I could just sort the ballast out!
  8. They have only just gone back together!!! I must admit I bought them with the GW on as I thought that was the earlier livery, then when I went digging I couldn't find any examples with that livery. As the roundel started in 34, these were built in 39, makes sense! So did all brown stock start with white roofs? Must be market day at Castle Down
  9. After a quick T-Cut and scrape, the last few numbers were removed off each one.. I've no idea why these have different colour roofs, they were seconds, so I guess they missed the paint shop?
  10. 39. Found this now! http://www.alextrack.co.uk/model_railways/2mm_finescale/non_passenger_carrying_coaching_stock/parcels_miscellaneous_vans_pmv_gwr_fruit_d_pasfruit.html
  11. That was quick! Out with the transfers and grey paint tomorrow then..
  12. I would imagine that was true of a lot of stations.. Much more in than out.. Productions centres would be distributing goods around the country, their certainly wouldn't be anywhere near the same level coming out.
  13. Hi, I've 4 Dapol fruit D all numbered 2886. Does anyone have a nice list of valid numbers they ran with in the mid 30s? Also, what colour would the roofs been? I can't find a definitive answer. I find it odd that something like a Mink G appears in some picture with a GWR white roof. But a Fruit looks to be a dark grey? 2 of the Dapol ones are a horrid shinny black and 2 are an off white kind of colour. Thanks..
  14. Yes, more details please If that was the Led rope, that's worked very well! Something I've not got right is the lighting on my layout.
  15. Think I can see someone hidding in the trees on the left
  16. They look like they have been washed away with some big mud flood!!! Looks like a really good use of the space, nice area for the train to pass though.
  17. A lot do apear sheeted, there are still plenty that are not. But then you can't generally see in while the train is in motion, so I question how many of them are in fact empty.
  18. Looking very smart for the Flying Scotsman visit! I'll have to drag the family down to check her out on a slightly quieter day!
  19. Did a little bit of a cross post over in pre-grouping as they have a cracking post on wagon loads. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/102186-what-can-be-used-as-pre-grouping-wagon-loads/page-4&do=findComment&comment=2816926 I think it's the same conclusion.. While they may have been about, post WWII would be more likely.. I think I'll leave them in a box, I've a couple of packs of ratio pallets that I picked up thinking they would look nice. Then I thought about it properly.
  20. I've an old parkside kit that I had a second go at building.. Some of the steps have been rebuilt in brass as I just kept breaking them! It's not perfect, but from a distance it works.
