  1. Sorry for the late response! I don't check in much here these days. Were you able to get in on the Sunday?
  2. Thank you. Maybe one day I'll bring it to your open day. I remember having a great time there with Tilly Yard South.
  3. Long time no post! Oberursel is now pretty much complete, bar a few small details
  4. I've been doing some more work to the station buildings for Oberursel. The model is based on the Faller small station kit.
  5. I have been quiet for a while on here, but I've been busy with my West German layout. So, I've changed direction. It will no longer be a BW, but a small terminus instead. The board has been extended by a foot to accommodate some changes in the fiddle yard, so the size is now 9ft by 18inches. It will be a snow scene, with suitable stock for steam or diesel operations.
  6. Hello all, Underpass is due at the Lymington Model Railway Exhibition this weekend! https://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/event/y2023/25018-LymingtonCommunityAssociation_Exhibition
  7. Thank you for taking such excellent photographs of Underpass! I'm extremely honoured.
  8. Speaking as an exhibitor, I had a wonderful weekend. Very well looked after, very well fed, extremely well organized and excellent modelling on display.
  9. Thank you. Another one arrived today, a V200 diesel. No, I'll be using DC. I have a soft spot for the Fleischmann of old and I don't wish to modify them, although it would be relatively straightforward.
  10. Evening all, I felt it was time to share my first German layout build. BW Oberursel. 8ft by 18 inches. It's a fictional BW set around Oberursel. Most of the rolling stock is mid to late '80's Fleischmann.
  11. Long time no post! I've been away from here for a while, but Underpass has been finished, completed its first exhibition at the GlobalRail show put on by the German Railway Society, was featured in the September edition of Continental Modeller and is due at the Seaboard Southern Exhibition on the the 17th of this month and at the Uckfield Exhibition in October. Busy, busy busy!
  12. Excellent article in this months CM Les, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
  13. They are due at the Seaboard Southern show next month. What do you need?
  14. This originally started out as a Walthers GP9m that I got for a very good price on eBay. Great mechanism and a good base for converting into a GP9u. At first I swapped the cab out for a spare GP38-2 one I had as a close approximation, but it definitely didn't look like a Topeka cab. Using the GP38-2 cab as a starting point, I've further modified it using card and a lot of green putty. Before and after pictures.
  15. Not content with building Underpass, I've started a second layout. Theme? Diesel depot. Railroad? Santa Fe of course. This was designed as more of a moving diorama/photo backdrop, it should still offer some interesting operations.
  16. Thank you, that was painted by hand! The yard was fine, but swapping around in the fiddle yard was a nightmare.
  17. I've been quite lucky getting the stock together, in terms of right place, right time. None of them were particularly expensive either, which is quite surprising given the availability of US stock in the UK. I learnt a lot from TYS. While the track plan was interesting, it was an absolute pain to switch. My fiddle yard solution of the loco lifts to move stock never really work, and I never got round to sorting it out. And after 3 years, it had become a bit tedious. But, you can never stay away for long.
  18. Oh lord, I've gone down the rabbit hole of adding period correct California license plates to my vehicles.... The Dodge has an Illinois plate instead, I wonder why?
