  1. And i am sorry, Mr Red, if my post seemed personal, it really wasn`t meant to be so, and i really do admire your creativity... i think what Regularity said expresses my feelings much better than i can myself... I am simply getting frustrated with how bloated and unfocussed RM web is getting, which i suppose is also a positive reflection of its popularity. Your writing is intelligent and in it`s own right enjoyable... my complaint is only that it (maybe) isn`t really relevant under a modelling/prototype heading... I`m not particularly good in expressing myself, i think.

It was just bad luck, that my bad mood landed on your thread, after another frustrating moment trying to trawl through "layout topics" :O

Please forgive me, if i unsettled you.

    Kevin

  2. What on earth does this have to do with "Pre-Grouping-Modelling and Prototype?... surely this belongs on another thread.... miscellaneous or something... I`ve already stopped looking at the layout matters thread, because the main page is stuffed with layouts that are long finished, and simply take thousands of identical pictures, interjected with Jenny Agutter... and here in pre grouping its becoming the same, just fictional descriptions of models that will never be built, endless pictures of 3d layouts, and pretty bad literature. RM web is getting boring, and too big to get an overview. Sorry, red gem, nothing personal, but its something thats getting me grumpy.

  3. Quite simply it was one of my busiest weekends of the year and I hadn't got a spare hour to tidy up the mess. Why do you feel the need to be so derogatory too? Surely that's what you're criticising others of?

I can quite understand you closing the thread, it was getting pretty vitriolic, which on reflection won`t help Samantha at all... hopefully we can keep this thread to simply show our support for Samantha, and who knows, maybe something positive will come of it.

  4. Hi guys,

Well a quick update. A couple of months of inactivity - if only work and family life would stop getting in the way! I’m back on with converting my 56 to EM, also building a small diorama, something similar to ‘The Works’ layout that was on here until Photobucket stopped sharing their pictures :(

If this one works ok, I also know where I’m heading for loco two, but I’ll not get ahead of myself! I’ll post some pictures soon, but just thought as you’d all been welcoming and helpful that I’ve not lost interest!

"Photobucket embed fix" is a plug in for Chrome, that fixes the Photobucket redirect, there is also a similar fix for Firefox, i understand.

  5. Your room picture seems to imply that you are living in a relatively small flat... are you sure that you can commit so much of the kitchen/dining room to a large layout? What happens when you move?... i would suggest, that you take one of the 6x4 boards, and use it as a test bench, experiment a bit with something small, and get a feel for how even a small layout can take a LOT of time... start something small, get a feel for the time investment, and then dream about the "Big layout"... sorry, if this seems negative.

  6. They are all the same coulour aren't they? The bloke on the second hand stall said they were and that they were all SR stock. He even said that they were disgusting & from Cleethorpes and would end up in Sid's mouth and an ex Moth. The ones at the very back are experimental shades he said; genuine eastleigh paint pots. Do you think I've been duped? There is even a strange looking SR loco numbered 60022 but it is air smoothed so it must be genuine. The long green thing that looks like a spaceship is a modified N15.

The track is Pee forth with hand built chairs and wooden sleepers and timbers. The ballast is genuine stone from Meltdown Quarry.

However, I am so sorry there are no headcode discs as they fell off.

    I think I need sedating.

    P. Implement

I think the bloke on the Second Hand stall was that Ismbard "kingdong" Brunel again... he`d probably just finished slapping paint on that fabled "green door"....

  7. So here is the non offending pic, followed by some offensive ones!

    attachicon.gifImg_0461.jpg

This loco, covered in filth and crude, chalked remarks, will be working the Branch in 1963/4. Today it is shunting a heavy Milk Train into the Up Yard; quite a task for such a dumpy Duck. Rob has a very colourful Fa##y Pluckit, I have an inoffensive and fully lined, ex works match box.

    Offensive Pic No. 1.

This was an unboxed Ebay purchase some years back. It is DCC fitted and works (just), but my equipment can't read the CVs and so I have no idea what sort of Decoder is inserted and I can't change the settings (at the moment). It is supposed to be Spitfire but I challenge you to note the 'faults', not including the non fitment of 'detailing parts'; I shall have to acquire those.

The coach(es) may look familiar to a Sheepish, Mutton Chops person from Welsh Wales?

Not quite so offensive Pic No. 2.

    attachicon.gifImg_0463.jpg

Ignore the arse end of the Hungry Caterpillar and admire the accommodation available in the FY. I've been seeing what I can fit in the various 'loops'.

Apart from that all I've done is run in the Pannier and  then fit a Zen 6 Pin Chip. The Chip came with two harnesses (an 8 to 6 and a 6 to 6) didn't have to use those) and a Stay Alive that I shall have to fit as this little beauty does not like long crossings and lots of frogs one after the other.

    Time for toast.

    Phil

All those coaches in the background of the last pic are different colours... thats simply not right, and not allowed!!... railway companies always made sure that their coaches were exactly the same shade of green, especially the GWR... and even worse, i suspect you are running on narrow gauge track... disgusting!

    Disgusted of Cleethorpes.

  8.  I then discover the Buy and Sell site has gone live and I could have made a few bob! Pah!

just looked at the buy and sell... think there will be a bit of flak flying soon... rather disappointing, for those who enjoyed nattering with people and exchanging a bit of old tat for another bit of old tat...

  9. Does this vary with the version of Word? I ask, as the piece of paper next to my computer shows ½ as being ALT 171 (and I just checked it..)

i think word has its own set of macros, when i try typing alt171 here, it whips me off to google!... i cant try the 0819 any more, because my 0 on the number pad has just decided to break!! ♥ ½... ah, it works, but its alt0189, my mistake in first post^^

http://fsymbols.com/keyboard/windows/alt-codes/list/  this lists both 171 and 0189 as making ½, but 171 as i said dosent work for me here, so i assume its different for different applications
