I think I may have shared before that in my brief period in jig and tool design, the office manager had a phrase he would use when we'd been struggling for hours, sometimes days to come up with a workable design for something, "it's so simple it hurts". It turns out that the points weren't the problem (pun intended). On the loco that was derailing, the body retaining screw wasn't fully tightened, which meant the head was protruding down, and catching in the point blade on the side not touching a stock rail. I've screwed it in tight and filed it down flush, (with still enough slot to remove the screw if necessary) and it runs over the points fine. Thank you all for your input; I've learned a few things from your comments

Thanks for your comments @DCB If the kink you refer to is the one nearest the yellow arrow, unless I'm missing something, that's not the side the flanges run on, so I'm not sure it would be a problem. Please correct me if I've misunderstood you on this. I did try swapping with another turnout but it made no difference.

Except that in this case it was liquid rather than air, and the direction was vertically downwards

After the second dose it was more like a cloud burst!

I would recommend the stuff I had prior to a colonoscopy last weekend. Second dose in particular proved very effective. :)

Usual apology to begin, if this is not in the correct section. I have a roundy-roundy layout: I'm getting problems with some, not all) locos derailing at the points top lh when running in the direction shown X (facing point). This is the turnout And a close up: This is one of the locos which derails: With the points set the other way, into the loop there are no derailments. I thought it might be because the points are next to a curve section, but there are no problems with the points top right. The points are Kato no 6 (781mm rad) and the curves are 282mm rad. I've tried a different set of points and get the same result, which suggests it might be a vertical misalignment problem, (uneven baseboard) but before I start dismantling track I thought I would seek advice from the RMWeb collective wisdom)

Plym Valley Railway launching an appeal to purchase a loco https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/plym-valley-railway-launches-appeal-8714742 (Shame about the usual press references to "train" and "choo choo").

Just seen this on the Beeb site but, under the circumstances, didn't think it appropriate to post under "Stupidity" -
Tis the silly season :)

The second pic is I guess extra special as it also shows the HST which won't be seen for much longer

Does the fact that it's MODAL justify the price?

WCRC - the ongoing battle with ORR.

It's that well known RMWeb Thread Drift Syndrome. It's what happens when things don't have an official body to oversee them :) No criticism on Andy and Phil, they do their best but it's an uphill struggle against us lot Perhaps we need the Rmweb Thread Drift Investigation Body -

Being pedantic I know but the RAF seem to have got confused between religion and denomination. Jews, Hindu etc are religions, RC & C of E are denominations within the Christian religion. Pedant hat off!

Hadn't noticed that; Copy & Paste strikes again!

PK, I accept this is probably just me but: I get annoyed when Rails list a load of stuff I have to scroll through because it doesn't interest me. I get even more annoyed when Jadlam list a load which interests me even less. Today they've both done it at the same time. GRRRRR!!

Strange; the link on Darius' post works, but the link on Paul's quote doesn't??
