  1. An interesting feature of this wagon is the metal axle attachments which have spring action and which I have now learned from old archived threads on Acro here on RMWeb was a feature of Acro/Nucro model kits of the 1950s.
  2. Many thanks. Would appear to be definitely Acro, as the Hattons photo shows an exact match. Only difference is viewed from above, my example does not have those large hexagonal nuts and tabs protruding above the bogies, but being a kit it would be for the builder to find his/her own method for attaching the bogies.
  3. This bogie well wagon came in an eBay job lot. It is a heavy diecast metal wagon, with rivet detail embossed on the casting but no numbering or lettering. It is fitted with three link couplings, with no provision on the bogies for attaching other types of coupling. The wheels have a metallic look but would appear to be plastic as it runs on 2-rail track without shorting, despite the metal axle holders. It does not appear to be Trix as the bogies are different and a Trix example would have had embossed lettering. I am assuming it is vintage, from the metal construction but I have been unable to find anything exactly like it on internet images.
  4. I have to confess I had never heard of Gee Dee Models until the above post came up earlier in the week on RMWeb as a recent post for me to view. Then today, an eBay purchase from Easter Monday arrived in the post, note the original price sticker still attached to the box. Co-incidence or what?
  5. "Helensburgh" mis-spelt on a Dapol exclusive gunpowder van for a model railway club. At first glance, the second "e" seemed to be missing but it is actually present but disappears from this angle of viewing due to being printed across the edge of the door. However there is definitely and extra "u" which shouldn't be there. I wonder if Dapol gave them a discount.😃
  6. The new wagons arrived today and I ran the full rake of 8, using a shunting loco to release the class 66 as my loop is only long enough to run round 7. I noticed there was a little white discharge control wheel missing from wagon 55564 from the first batch and looked everywhere for it without success. Viewing again my photo which I posted on the day that the first batch arrived, I see it was already missing when that wagon had its first run. Will it will be possible to obtain spares of small parts such as this?
  7. I have been craving a second pack of these superb wagons ever since the first four arrived. Today I received 5% discount offer from Rainbow Railways. I checked to confirm the discount code would work for Revolution PCAs, but it was only valid till midnight tonight so I needed to decide quick. I pulled the trigger on a Rio Tinto Alcan pack, which can run mixed with the Lochaber Liberty wagons which I already have.
  8. I had the opposite problem when my account somehow got closed when I went a year or more without using it. When I found I could no longer log in, eBay treated me as a new member and gave me a new user name, which I promptly changed back to the original, however in the process all the previous feedback was lost. That's why on my about page I honestly declare that I have been a member since 2004 with over 3,000 positive feedbacks yet immediately below this eBay have added Member since 2015 and have only credited me with 1,855 positive feedbacks.
  9. My wagon works manager is somewhat over scale. Fred was my mother's old flour grader, who came to live with us after her passing. After I was widowed and then re-married my new wife didn't want this "creepy little man" in her kitchen so I gave him a new job on my model railway.
  10. Had a new one this morning. An overdue purchase is at last showing on eBay tracking as on its way to local Evri courier at 07:21 this morning. However when I click on the tracking link to Evri, the tracking number is showing a parcel as handed in to the local parcels office at 08:44 this morning to be returned to J.D.Sports, with a new tracking number issued this morning and no reference to the tracking history already showing on eBay's own page. My purchase is a Hornby item from a private seller and nothing to do with J.D.Sports, nor was the item which I returned last week. Hopefully it is only a wrong tracking link from eBay and the courier might actually turn up with my overdue package today. Update:- Evri courier duly arrived early this evening and delivered my Hornby wagon. eBay had seemingly given me a wrong link to the tracking website.
  11. Best prospect would probably be a Sprinter train to Bodmin Parkway, with reversal at Bodmin General. Unless there is bulk traffic (unlikely for a relatively small harbour such as Padstow) rail freight would be unlikely. I would have thought a rail connection could be justified, even with reversal at Bodmin. I covered Padstow to Wadebridge on foot a couple of times while down that way on holiday twenty years ago. I took my late wife Ann along with her mobility scooter on the second occasion. She ran out of battery at Wadebridge, and I had to leave her there while I caught a bus from Wadebridge to Padstow to retrieve my van and collect wife and scooter back in Wadebridge, believing that the bus would be quicker than walking, however the bus seemed to travel a very long and round about route and took quite a while to go from Wadebridge to Padstow, which I then had to follow on my drive back to Wadebridge as it seemed that there was an absence of a more direct road connection.
  12. I received an e-mail from eBay this morning reminding me that I had not yet left feedback for two recent purchases. One has still not arrived, nor is it showing on eBay as delivered. The other, as eBay are aware, was returned due to wrong item sent and I am presently awaiting a refund. I won't leave feedback until both issues are resolved, and the nature of my feedback will depend on whether the seller resolves the matter or whether I will need to enlist eBay's help.
  13. I will second that. Since my solitary Mk2b BFK recently arrived from Accurascale and received a short test run, it has languished back in its box awaiting the rest of my intended rake arriving from Accurascale (which are all Mk2c). Craving some instant gratification, I saw from this thread that Model Railways Direct had stocks of Mk2b available. Viewing stock levels on their website a few times it was soon obvious that these were selling quickly. Yesterday afternoon I pulled the trigger and placed an order for a blue and grey TSO. The postie delivered it this morning. Excellent service.
  14. Fair comment. That has been my experience also. Back in June 2013 I pre-ordered a Bachmann Mk2f RFO in blue/grey from Hattons because there was a full size example on my local heritage railway. Can't remember the exact price to the nearest penny but the headline figure was £28 plus pence. By October 2018, the real RFO had left our heritage railway and out of the blue I started receiving daily notifications from Hattons that my debit card had expired and I needed to pay £46.90 if I still wanted my pre-order which had now arrived. After a few days of such reminders I decided that, with inflation, this was now in 2018 a favourable price and I went ahead with the purchase. Due to the long lead time and the effects of inflation, I have never pre-ordered any Bachmann since then. I take my chance, sometimes I miss out, sometimes I get a bargain much later.
  15. Possibly because the announcements of the proposed product and deadline for pre-order were quite low key, easily missed unless you were a regular visitor to this thread and many of us still didn't have any when you posted. I only found out at the Glasgow show that these wagons were already available retail and I am sure I have been far from alone in scrambling around trying to obtain these much sought after wagons. I only have a small fiddle yard to branch terminus layout so my scenario is that the Lynemouth-Fort William train has been diverted via a triangular junction and needs to run round at the end of my branch. The train had to be split as the loop is only long enough for the GBRf 66 to run round 7 PCA wagons. My 4-pack arrived this morning and I am absolutely delighted with the crisp detail and superb running qualities. I may look out for another three single wagons either on the second hand market or if these are offered as singles in a future production run (hint).
