Some years ago I cobbled together a full-length 'White Rose' Class 373 set, and it has made appearances on the British 1:87 Society stand at shows on and off ever since. I wonder if it was mine you saw. Mine was made 'the hard way' - that is by collecting a bunch of 'power' trailers, then chopping them up to make the intermediate coaches. So I'm afraid I can't give you a source of ready made Eurostar vehicles, but if you're at the Warley Show this weekend I'll happily show you what I had to do to make mine. The British 1:87 Scale stand is at C56; please drop by and say hello!

Here's the Rails/Dapol D1 nose to nose with my old Triang L1, which I started to refurbish and detail about 30 years ago, but y'know how it is.... To my eye the old model still presents well.
Finally, and begging your indulgence for the message creep, my Dapol D Class is posed against my own part-finished scratchbuilt version, which has also been in the loft for at least a quarter of a century, and has never before been seen in public - but I'm still proud of her!- 10

As 1ngram says above, the official mouthpiece of the British 1:87 Society is its io.groups forum. The Society does not have an official Facebook page as we have several members who choose not to engage with FB! There are at least two personal FB pages devoted to British (& other) H0 modelling, both run by Society members: one has been pointed out by ellocoloco above; the other is British, Irish and Worldwide 1/87 Scale Models at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1474422409326849/

This is quite visionary Richard! The model tells a comprehensive story without words, and the stylistic approach you have chosen is logically, consistently and holistically applied. Well done!

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences. My points have been fitted with their paper "underlays", and are in the process of being wired up. Hopefully the lash-up will be working in time for the Fort Pitt show next weekend 2nd-3rd of September to form part of the British H0 Stand!

After decades of building stock and armchair modelling, I'm finally building a layout! It's a 3+3+5 Inglenook shunting puzzle with two Peco points, to which I am mounting PL-10 motors, directly to the undersides through the slots provided, as per mfr's instructions. Thing is, in all those decades, I don't recall anybody describing the glueing or otherwise positively fixing the motors to the points. Is the push fit of the metal prongs into the slots in the sleepers sufficient to hold them in place indefinitely, or will the continuous 'throws' of the motor eventually loosen them out of place? Over the years many thousands of these fittings must have been used successfully, so what, may I ask, are people's experiences?

I think Model Rail had a similar series of articles a couple of years back describing the conversion using the 4mm scale model, might be worth a look.
It was issue 88 of February 2006 which dealt with turning end cars into articulated ones (by cut-and-shut means) followed up this very month (December 2009 issue 138) with consideration of the Bar Car with its different window layout.
Not to be undertaken lightly - my 16-car "White Rose" set is reaching the rubbing-down stage, and I'm pretty fed up with the sight of it, I can tell you!

Did anyone here take a copy of the article that used to be on the HO modellers site that describes how to convert Hornby eurostar power coaches into additional articulated coaches?
Simon, besides being on the website those articles appeared in back issues of the British 1:87 Society journal. The good news is these are being uploaded to the British H0 Yahoo group - joining this group gives access to all the back issues that have been uploaded so far (you'll want issues 35 & 36).
End of Warley National Show - but now it's not the end of a show at the NEC.

The trek to the NEC and the Warley Show has been an annual part for most of my adult life. Even though exhibiting at the NEC had its own set of unique challenges, I always felt proud of being a tiny part of the show. For sure, the organising team have earned their retirement, and can feel justifiably content at having made such a great contribution to the hobby for such a long time. Rest easy, ladies and gentlemen; best wishes to you all.
