  1. Another hands up for a once-long-haired guitarist :)

Hope you're enjoying the cycling Justin - apart from the showers, it was a good day for it yesterday.

My long hair is long gone now and my daughter doesn't really believe that I ever had hair half way down my back in my student days during the 90's... Unfortunately corporate life got in the way for a couple of years and my hair had to conform to certain standards! But it's making its way back a bit now!

The cycling is going well Freebs. Taking it steady, especially with what the Mrs has had to deal with... mostly doing the weekly shop on the bikes instead of using the car. But we'll build up from there. My Dad & my sister are doing the London-Surrey 100 in august! Bonkers!

Can't say I've ever heard of Earl Bostic... better go see what all the fuss is about :

  2.  Enough sax, sex and rock 'n' roll, back to modelling !

Replacement station underway, about a days work  so far but I'm fast fading in the Grimsby heat !

And where did the last one go ? the last time I saw it, it was haring up the M 180 in the back of Justin Noble's Ford Mondeo and heading for Leicester !

    Cheers.

The new station's looking fantastic as always Allan! The other one survived the journey down the M1 and is now safely awaiting its outing to the GCR model event on the 20th of this month, where it will hopefully be admired and indeed find a new home all being well :)

  3. Had a visit today from Justin Noble, owner of the site below, and he brought along a really superb low relief factory in 00, a simple kit, and I have to say that I was mightily impressed.

Also, he showed me some really authentic brick papers in O gauge along with corrugated roofing etc - brilliant - take a look at his site, well worth a visit.

    Cheers.

Thank you for a lovely day Allan! Brilliant to meet you in person. Very inspiring too. I'm off to order some shelves from Argos now to store your creations :)

  4. So went a bit mad with billboards tonight. First off, as suggested, a platform has been added to the billboard on the embankment. Its a bit wonky and my excuse is that this billboard is falling into disrepair, but i think it does look better with the platform.

Then decided Gloucester Road station needed signs too. So two more were made up, used matchsticks for the legs; i also didnt wrap the frames. Really struggled to get these crisp on my previous two, think the edges and corners look much sharper.

Also as the weather has improved thoughts of cycling outside have returned, so too on layout.

    Hi Stephen,

The billboards are looking great. I might upgrade the kit actually and include a platform. Will experiment a bit with ways to create one. The rest of your layout looks excellent too.

  5. A nice collection of photos there Stubby47. St Ives and the surrounding area is a superb area for inspiration for buildings to tackle. I took more photos of buildings on our holiday down there last August than I did of the family! So many lovely cottages and quaint shops that are just begging to be captured in miniature.

I just wish St Ives had a more impressive station really. Would be great to model a coastal branch line like the one from Lelant into St.Ives, but Malkoff station is a bit of a let down really imo.
