  1. A genuine Wick and Lybster spike on the left alongside one from the Faslane Military Railway
  2. All very interesting. What platform would the Aberfoyle train leave from I wonder? When the planners were at it, it's a wonder they didn't go for a sort of Superwaverley for Glasgow.
  3. Part of a picture on display in Mallaig museum. I hadn't realised there were sidings so far south of the station area.
  4. Guess many of you will have built these Airfix kits. I just noticed this morning that Biggin Hill on the box has a front edge to its streamlined casing which extends to the buffer beam, but the actual kit does not. I wondered was this a case of artist error, like the disappearing coupling rod on the airfix mogul box, but have been reassured by all the variations on the photos in the thread. There must be a story to this particular variation.
  5. The book Scottish Steam in Colour by Hugh Ballantyne (Jane's Transport press 1987) has seven photos of these trains several of which give a good idea of the 7 coach formation . I remember seeing a green A4 at Buchanan St about 1964. It confounded my theory that all real steam engines were black.
