Try the Titfield Thunderbolt bookshop on the outskirts of Bath, tel. no. 01225 700601. Its run by a local enthusiast and could well have some books or maps of the area. They may well have the local knowledge as well. Sadly I only moved into the area in 1984 so only know the station as it is now. They have a good website as well though a phone call might bring results.

Iain,
Really like your latest offering and am tempted to have a go myself, though I've an unbuilt DJH kit somewhere in the house. Also am taken with the Ivatt Duchess and hope I can build mine as well as yours when I get around to it. Was termpted by the Golden Arrows DoG but as Hornby are producing it, won't bother now. Look forward to more offerings in the near future.

More superb work Tim which I will follow with interest. Being brought up not far from Toton East Midlands in my train spotting days, 8F's amongst others were the staple loco diet and over the years I've become quite fond of them. As I get older I've begun to appreciate more the Stanier freight & mixed traffic designs and the older Fowler and Johnson loco's and its pleasing to see these being available in rtr form. Will have to be careful watching this thread as it might tempt me to get more 8F's and change my modelling direction yet again.
Although Jubilee's are my all time favourite loco, I still remember the clanking and wheezing 8F's, Austerities and 9F's not to forget the elderly 2F's. 3F's and 4F's. Halycon days indeed!
Looking forward to more photo's etc.

Hi Polly,
Regarding wagons have you had a look at the "POW Sides" website which I came across when looking for Nottingham & Llanelli PO wagons. Although they are kits I think they are fairly easy to build and there is also the alternative of buying just transfers. hope this helps.

I've ordered from them both when they were in Wales and now they are located in Scotland and have found them to be very good in both communication (when stockouts occured) and very efficient in despatching orders.

Saw this layout at Melksham yesterday and what a fantastic layout it is. Couldn't stay too long so am seriously thinking of going again later today as its only a ten minute walk. Looking forward to more photo's and will have to delve into the previous 68 pages of this topic.

I absolutely love this layout and look forward every night to seeing all the different loco's and progress being made on the building and scenery side. If my eyes don't deceive me, in yesterdays photo's a mock up of a roof between the platforms has been placed in situ, and if this is the shape of things to come, then all I can say is it will look even more stupendous!
Its also got me into back into Eastern Region loco's, albeit the Pacifics. All I have to do now is renumber/name a few, get them weathered and build something to run them on!!
Look forward to more loco's and quality photo's.

As a matter of interest will the front lamp irons be etched ones? Only ask as I've a couple of A4's I'd like to bring up to the super detail standard.
Thanks

I share "1C1's disgusting view that with the closure of Lyneham future casualties of war will be repatriated through a back gate at Brize Norton. Having witnessed a few repatriations on my way home from the Oxford area and seeing the wonderful gatherings at Wooton Bassett, this Goverment should be thoroughly ashamed of itself, particularly the PM and all of the Defence Ministers. As one who will shortly be losing his job as the results of the Defence Review I am particularly saddened at the closure of Lyneham and the ability of folk to pay their respects to the fallen. These are heroes who have given their lives for this country and I'm totally disgusted with this Govt's attitude to this matter. Rant over and I look forward to seeing the Hercules flying over my house as they have done so for the last 23 years. I will miss them trying to take the roof off!
