  1. Sunny here too. Met office says its going to be sunny all day with less than 5% chance of precipitation. However, temperatures are expected to stay in single figures.
  2. But why is he slaying her pet dragon? You can clearly see its on a lead, being taken for a walk!
  3. I believe that all our ancestors date from the Cambrian Explosion*.... * Nothing to do with Wales and gunpowder!
  4. So why has he got a hot water bottle there? Is his rubberised horsehair freezing all over?
  5. Flying Scotsman is "iconic" because it suits the NRM for it to be so. It should also be remembered that until the Moneypit fell into their hands, City of Truro was the NRMs candidate for "the first to 100" . All the official stuff for FS is their spin.
  6. Happy St Georges Day

    Happy Shakespears Birthday

Someone has to wish them a happy day, no one in the media will...

  7. Dry and sunny here, though there is a bit of cloud about. Met office claims sunny with cloudy spells, temps just into double figures and less than 5% chance of precipitation...
  8. Its the ones at the high end of the spectrum you have to worry about, and if two breed.... ION OTOH its the Labrador gene thats a concern. I was just sitting here, and I had a compulsion to get some toast and a muggatea..... "crunch, crunch" Crackin' toast, Gromit!
  9. Its the usual magazine response, "We have no control over the advertising department"...
  10. The wheels look rather "underscale", and the warped body reminiscent of an early Rovex/Triang Princess Elizabeth. Then there's that livery... And if it's 8 inches wide, how long is it?
  11. @DaveF Noticed today that the last series of Vera will complete filming this summer https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-68875006
  12. I'm not sure I'd be smiling...
  13. A nice pair of squirrel nut loppers!
  14. Put some towels in the wash this morning and hung them out to "dry". As its not all that warm, the breeze has dropped and its gone rather dull, I've been keeping an eye on whats going on outside as I bumble around other housekeeping tasks just in case the weather decides another rinse cycle is needed... 🙂 Just can't trust the weather! After typing the above, I thought it had become a bit greyer, popped my nose outside and discovered dampish sprinkles in the air... Now they're all inside on a drying rack. 🙄
  15. They're indexed from zero? Designed by a rogue C programmer! Or number 1 is reserved for some poor sap to receive at a presentation...
  16. Tut tut. Won't be paying anything! Of course as a "collectors item" it won't be used enough for the microscopically thick gold plating to wear off...
  17. Joking aside, I feel that slashing the blisters with a Stanley knife* would lead to a major advancement in road safety. * Other craft knives are available.
  18. Dunno.... In a human, that would be the Black Death, and I wouldn't like to get anywhere near those buboes...
  19. It was related to Gee/Oboe, which were hyperbolic navigation systems devised for "precision" bombing during WW2. Decca differed by using two signal phase comparison rather than the pulsed timing of the RAF systems and was first deployed by the RN for precision minesweeping during the D Day operations. H2S was an aerial bombing radar system, mainly used for targets outside the range of Gee or Oboe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gee_(navigation) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oboe_(navigation) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decca_Navigator_System https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H2S_(radar)
  20. I did my right knee in years ago, going down a hatchway on a narrowboat in an incautious manner and bending it back to front... Its given me gyp ever since.
  21. I've frequented ER for several years now. On good days I can interpret a fair bit. On bad days, however.... 🤔🤪
