@Atchison How easy was it to remove the cab, please. I've bought one of these too, but fortunately the only major (?) problem has really been the glazing dropping out. Thanks Paul
  2. Irish beet wagons and a brake van in O? Thanks Paul
  3. @Jeremy Cumberland, @Lemmy282, @dave75 Thanks for your responses guys, but it seems I had the answer all along, as pointed out by @csvt2004! Thanks Paul
  4. Jeepers, this is embarrassing, as I've got that book somewhere! Perhaps this will motivate me to tidy our spare room to find it! Thanks Paul
  5. Hi all, I read somewhere recently but didn't take a lot of notice, that there was a conventional 08 at Tinsley that had the necessary modifications and equipment to deputise for a master unit of a class 13. Does anybody here know if that was correct, and do we know what the identity of the 08 in question was, please? Thanks Paul
  6. I ordered one of these on Tuesday after receiving an e-mail from Dapol. It arrived Friday, and I'm very pleased with it. The box is marked as "nameplate loose" , which when opened turned out to be the Guinness emblem on the radiator had come off, probably due to the tight packaging. It was included in a parts bag. Some of the cab glazing had fallen out, but was there. Re-reading the topic on here it seems to be not uncommon, so a little bit of glueing and I've got a bargain (with an invoice from Dapol and a Royal Mail tracker that says it came from Dapol). Thank you, Dapol! The original loco is preserved on the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway, which is my favourite railway as it has three 08s. Thanks Paul
  7. Hi @21A Desperado, I see you are using a lot of kits from Skog. I see on Facebook he has a large list of wagon kits. Would you recommend them and how easy is it to get a hold of Rob? Thanks Paul
  8. I wonder if this was where GBRf got their livery idea from? Paul
  9. I too enjoyed myself today. Thanks Al for organising. Came away with some inspiration and a pre-owned Lima ferry van that will get new wheels and couplings. Gutted that the Realism Redefined PCAs were going for £75, since I paid full price when they came out! My favourite layout had to be Netherwood, too. Thanks again @D6775 Paul
  10. The wife and I saw him perform with Si at a Warners hotel before Covid and they were brilliant. Dave told the audience that he'd bought himself a garden railway, and the way he was talking, it was DCC fitted. RIP Dave. Thanks Paul
  11. I don't think that Heljan have made an 04 in 0 gauge. They've made an 03 and an 05, but not an 04. Thanks Paul
  12. Following on from the development of the SE&CR stuff, a brake van will follow soon, I hope! Thanks Paul
  13. Malc's Models of Ilkeston? Used them a couple of times in the last fortnight. Thanks Paul
  14. @Clive Mortimore Hi Clive, thanks for those. I imagined that the Crossleys had a similar arrangement to regular 08s since in Modern Locomotives Illustrated part 202 page 25 there's a photo of 13117 with what appears to be (side on) a rectangular flanged type of exhaust similar to an 08/09. Just shows you why you need a good photo! Thanks Paul
  15. Are there any known photos of the Crossley exhaust ports? Thanks, Paul
  16. I like the car for one dollar! Paul
  17. I've always thought I'd like to go back to around 1910 and stand on the platforms at Carlisle. There were so many companies that ran into or through Carlisle, that the variety of locomotive liveries must have been impressive. Again, taking a digital camera! Paul
  18. Hi, I'm normally a Diesel fan, but these vans are going to be my rule 1 item! I've tried searching t'interweb but cannot see any photos of the GW vans, but there's some of the BR numbers pair. Are there any photos that you know of showing the position of the lettering in GW days? Thanks in anticipation, Paul
  19. Could have used procedure 'AE ' to claim the wagon to their TRA. Paul
  20. Dapol put out a video recently, which had an update on these, due Q2, 2024. Paul
  21. @Adam1701D How about an O gauge Southern Railway Queen Mary bogie brake van, please? Didn't some make it into EWS livery? Thanks Paul
  22. Nasty spiders in France, too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-67544888 Paul
  23. In picture two above, notice that the window frames to the right of the corner are unpainted. That's the result of a brake van trying to enter the office, so I was told! Paul
