  1. I'll try it behind my Hornby Star or Castle and see. The smaller locos such as the Bachmann City class are just wheel spinning. Thanks
  2. Hi, I asked for one of these for Christmas and Father Christmas obliged! My problem is that there is too much friction between the pad and the rails and my loco's are "wheel spinning" . I've tried tightening the screws but they do not seem to tighten beyond a certain point and there are no instructions other that how to order replacement parts. Is there anything else I can do? Thanks
  3. Hi It still shorts when only the track bus is connected and even if I bypass the PSX it still shorts. Hi, A GWR man I assume with a liking for Calvin and Hobbs....I like it. My problem still occurs even if I bypass the PSX so I don't think that is the problem and it was working fine until I added a couple of new points. However, I will "RTFM" as the addition of the points may make a difference.
  4. I'm a relative newcomer to DCC and am using a NCE powercab to control the layout that I am building. I am laying it in stages and wiring points etc as I go. I have a separate power bus and accessory bus and have then wired into DCC concepts PSX1. I had successfully wired in 3 peco point motors using DCC ASX decoders, the points are completely insulated and have separate track feeds and everything worked fine. I then wired in a double slip and an ordinary point, controlled by DCC cobalt ip point motors and the controller kept shorting out. I connected the track bus and the accessory bus separately and it only seems to be when the track bus is connected that there is a problem. When the accessory bus is connected the points all work as you would expect. I have checked that there are no short circuits and that I don't have wires connecting. Any ideas gratefully received! Thanks.
  5. Dear all, In the spirit of " the only stupid question is the one you don't ask" how do I connect an accessory bus wire to my NCE Powercab? I have laid the bus wire around my layout already. I have a separate track feed and whilst I am still in the very early stages of building the layout I have tested it with the Powercab and my loco is working. I assume I don't just connect the accessory bus to the two feeds into the PowerCab. I intend to run point motors, signals and a turntable. Thanks in advance. Jon
  6. Hi, I'm about to start modelling a version of Chippenham with a branch to Calne. I choose that location as my parents were born in Calne and used the line so it was a natural choice for me but does give me what I want which is a mixture of mainline trains and expresses plus lots of shunting. The advice about the RH Clarke books is excellent, my volume is well used. The other books that might be useful are a number by a local Bristol author Colin Maggs, all available on a well known on line store. Jon
