  1. Hi, I have been through both barriers at the Viaduct in Dawlish,  not much room for error with the big scooter, so have to maneuver carefully & very slowly, should be able to also get through with the tandem behind. Hav'nt tried that yet, as my wife has not long got over spinal surgery, but will shortly be trying that out. Dont see any problem though, the tandem tracks very closely the scooter

I am very pleased to hear that. Because you have provided a very good account of proceedings during the history of this page and would have been a pity if you were unable to enjoy the wall
  2. Because with something so well planned it took time to realize the operation would fail. Just used the word for want of another that's all. Just seemed a pointless attempt that had lots of us on the edge of our seats, mostly guessing what was going on.

Sorry if the post was poorly worded.

I am inclined to agree with you watching the tugs turn up with L shapes only to be sent away without unloading several times as if there is no means of contact between JUB and tugs. There is probably a very good reason for this like the launch brings the person with the final word on unloading and he has to see what is happening on site. I do not want to criticise any one involved in this very difficult operation just a laymans observation from the comfort of my sitting room.
  3. Got a 7 day free trial on Dawlish Beach cam

Saw much activity  9.45 - 10.20 pm going on

lines not under possession as yet,  as train passes

    attachicon.gif25 Jan 15 - 21.45 .jpg

barges & Tugs moving from mooring to JUBs

But did not see the crane on JUB 1 moving

so must have been loading gear onto JUB 2

cant see anything clearly just a load of lights, stationary, & moving

    two separate lights at sea

    attachicon.gif25 Jan 15 - 21.44 .jpg

    one moves inshore

    attachicon.gif25 Jan 15 - 21.46 .jpg

    followed by the other

then both disappear in the direction of Teignmouth

I guess that while the tide is right ( high tide is 22.21)

and the weather favorable,  they have to crack on

Dont blame some of the people living along there for  being irritable,

with noise & light disturbing their sleep

I once lived 100 yards from a plant hire maintenance depot

right out in the country, lorries & plant would arrive off day jobs late evening

& generators & welders etc would be working till the early morning

in summer you could not open the windows!!

Some time before that the tugs brought a barge each to JUB1 the big crane unloaded them and the tugs went to the mooring point by the bouys wondered why they did not leave now I know thanks
  4. Ray, when you think about it, the walk way along the wall during the summer months are quite often frequented by foot sloggers on there way home from the Warren. So I would imagine the help of extra lighting would be welcome and providing the waves are kind the lights should hold up, of course if the covers are durable.

Life expectancy? For a long time we hope.

Unfortunatly they do not look strong enough to withstand the attentions of certain elements of Jo public
