Did any Class 90's actually get painted in that livery?

I think that was a Hornby fabrication with the expectation that the Class 90s would follow the Class 47s and 86s into the same livery, but they went straight into RES.

Well every day is a school day! My memory must have been playing tricks on me as i was sure i remembered seeing them in that livery in the early 1990s (one of afternoon Manchester-New Street trains regularly had a parcels electric on it ... I must have confused the livery with the 86s which also appeared.

  2. Does anyone know if you paid the deposit by Paypal are you protected through them ?   I ask because it appears that I used a Paypal balance for mine (which is unusual for me as I normally set the default payment to a credit card for additional protection).

  3. Well, I wish I had seen all of this re: Malcom's models before I placed an order.

As sales goes, 35% off didn't seem too excessive to me.

Time will tell if it proves to be fake and at least the card I used to pay expires at the end of the month!  i'll update as an when I know anything.

When I looked, there were many items which didn't have any stock, which suggests either others had bought the last remaining stock (or fake stock!) or it is all part of an elaborate scam.

    fingers crossed!

    Chris

OO gauge APT crowdfunding project update

    Hello everyone,

When we announced this project, little did we both know just how popular this project would be, and we are delighted to say that we currently stand just 50 sales short of the total needed to ‘press the button’ and start this magical journey properly.

As mentioned in a previous mail, design work has started, and Dave is busy producing drawings for a few bits and pieces that will feature within the final model, including the tilt mechanism, the articulating bogies, the multiple through wiring connectors, and soft touch (no gap) corridor connections.

It’s all very exciting here to be at this stage, and we hope, that if you haven’t ordered your model or models yet, you do so soon, as we have a lot to do, with the laser scanning party, possibly 2 guest speakers and presentations, plus the taking over of Crewe Heritage Centre for a day, and then not forgetting the finalising of the design etc too.

Once the order book is closed, that’s it! Only existing crowdfunders will be allowed to add sets and at the same price they were originally offered too!

If all goes well, then we both expect something tangible to be seen at Warley 2018, at the latest.

So, with this all in mind, and our stated aim to not make a second batch of these models, you will truly have a model of an icon to cherish, run, amaze your friends, wonder at, that is exclusive to you and a select few.

Yes, there will be a very few spare sets made (we envisage 10-20 in total) , and this is to cover warranty replacements and repairs etc, and to see if anyone wants to purchase this model. However, the ‘RRP’ for these sets will be 25% higher per set and only available directly from DToS.

49 sales to go now :-)

  5. have found another its a dc kit class 205 for buy now at £26 it has 10 watching

And now another with a Cheltenham model centre limited edition DRS 37038 for £21.13 with free postage!!

Even has the friendly text in the description from "Derek"

  6. Re availability of the sound fitted versions; I noticed that Charlie (DC Kits) has all six of these up for sale pre-fitted (by Charlie rather than Dapol) at £230 each - undercutting Dapol themselves  - and undercutting Hattons/Olivia's even further!

    No affiliation; just a messenger.

    Cheers

    Rob

... and for that reason Charlie has just had my order! Was going to get a non sound one and upgrade later but it made sense to get Charlie to fit it first

  7. Our thought's are:

Version 1   Portsmouth Harbour - Cardiff

    Version 2   Leeds - Carlisle

    Version 3   Glasgow - Oban

    Your thought's please?

I would go for Nowich -Liverpool which would cover a large area of the country and operating areas. Also Cardiff/Birmingham -Nottingham or perhaps slightly less popular Lincoln - Coventry ?

  8. Think the dangerous ground referred to is the issues had with a manufacturer who the 33 was going to be produced with.

Anyway, we have a 24 which is by far the best RTR diesel you can get and I think it clear that we all want more (97201 please!).

As for future models, logic would say a 25.

However whatever comes next, it will be a winner if it is as good as the 24.

  9. I hope Hornby do the Intercity charter stock too would make a nice rake.

    Thanks

    Mark

Whilst I would agree with this, we would also need a BCK and a buffet to make up the charter rake. Plus some nice white roofed intercity liveried Mk3 sleepers (I still have my Lima ones waiting for a roof repaint!)

Having said that, are the new Hornby mk1s that much better than the Replica ones ...

  10. Regarding nameplates they all didnt get cast plates. An unbranded model ultimately wouldnt sell in big numbers

BUT - will the Channel Tunnel 'Polo' logos be cast or just printed? Fox and Extreme Etches/Shawplan both make these

Here's a thought (and a question for Dave), as this is a crowd funded loco, how about having an unnamed, unbranded version (a la Heljan O gauge locos), and if you want to model to produce a specific loco you can order that one - and if it meets the minimum number hey presto - it will be made. Any thoughts?

Either way I'm looking forward to this

  11. There are times when I thought the works of gostude and others were bad, but... Really?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/weathered-locomotive-OO-gauge-class-92-diesel-heavily-rusted-ref-1d-/302006214173?hash=item4650f91e1d:g:geUAAOSwzJ5XaE2BIf there wasn't enough things that pinged up in my mind when seeing this - Class 92, Diesel, Heavily and Rusted? Is there something DBC & GBRf don't know about these electrics?"A unique static model, hand painted by professional artist depicting an abandoned rusted weathered loco"

And they have used 92041 Vaughan Williams for this one - which I remember right this was a beatties limited edition of only 300 models!

  12. Previous mention has been made of working with a 47, and occasionally with 33/0s and 73s. But these would be exceptions. In regular service they would really only be with 33/1s or REPs.

And also with NSE 50s on Waterloo - Salisbury's as well from what I remember. Happy days!

  13. I wasn't going to get one of these, but they look great. Does anyone know if the other body style is being produced as a blue one as 05001/97803 would be my choice.
