  1. I'm sure there was a train in Aliens, looked liked one in one of the loading docks?
  2. I'm interested to see how much more it will cost to travel on this, all the stations out east have segregated platforms and gates being installed. It certainly will not be the same cost as the existing services.
  3. Ooops, sorry .yes http://www.tomps.com/ Its the F19 I'm trying. Got fed up with the shorter potlife times of the other resins of 2 mins or thereabouts, so I've got 5 more mins to mould a few things at once. The F32 looks to have a lower viscosity, but shorter potlife. I'm laying a waxed glass sheet on top after pouring, and it seems to be better to get that nice flat finish. Mainly because it isn't already going thick when the sheet is laid down and a chance to move it around a bit. Just a little more patience is needed to get things out of the mould. I leave them overnight now
  4. just changed to axon f19 from tombs.com, much slower setting, far superior casting, longer cure time means casting surface is flat
  5. The Polycraft GP-3481-F and sg2000 from mbfg I would also recommend
  6. Based on this I've got some t28 and f31. First impression is that the t28 is good, although I paid the extra 61p to switch to a fast catalyst and threw some quick moulds together but did experience some bubbles. Going to pay some more care in talcing, and pouring and mixing for the next moulds. Resin was ok, but not perhaps as good as the previous but again going to try and take some more time with smaller batches so as to be able to remove bubbles by vibrating the mould more. Although it's softer than than the MB resin so easier to trim. Also laying a glass sheet on the mould now to get a nice smooth base which I've forgotten to do before.
  7. You could use square styrene for the base, compromise with straight hex http://hobby.uk.com/materials/plastic/styrene-rod/hexagonal.htmland either scratch build or resin cast the lamp heads.
  8. The talc is to help break surface tension on the resin so bubbles get their skin broken basically and pop afaik
  9. Was going to say that looking at the specs the T28 looks very close to the silicone i've had lots of success with and just about run out of, so might well drop in their shop next week too. Interested in the results of the resin, but its a lot to try out.
  10. It might be that the SG2000 is faster drying perhaps? about 2.5 min pot time and ends up pretty hard too. Can't use it by measuring it by eye so a cheap set of kitchen digital scales is needed. It dries to a nice white finish that takes paint well and I've inlaid brass rod where castings are very thin walled and long. I like the railbus you've done, about to embark on a 016.5 railbus/van myself.
  11. I started with the kit from MB fibreglass - http://www.mbfg.co.uk/category-186/polycraft-moulding-casting-resin-kit-small.htmland it worked great. Fine detail and bubble free moulds with a bit of vibration applied to the mould. Quite addictive once you start. Gradually buying larger quantities each time. A combination of lego and plasticard for the bucks mixed with wooden sides for larger moulds. Need to make sure the moulding material is well mixed to avoid any sticky patches and with the resin careful weighing of the components otherwise you could end up with tacky resin results. When you get it right, perfectly hard and quick drying results within a few minutes. Adding in some parts from http://www.62cmodels.com/for valves, poppets and chimneys etc
  12. Ooops, then you might NOT want to google image search on chinese herbal medicine shop ! Lots of drawers and bottles I see in your future!
  13. By its very nature, should this thread start to get smaller as the inspiration strikes and people implement the ideas? I've just installed a spilled bag of chips for the seagulls to pre-empt any such topic appearing! I've also got a few metal posts planted with nothing on them and a sawn off lamppost next to the replacement because of this thread, Sadly don't have a car park large enough for some donut skid marks, or a wheel clamped car (bet that's been done though?)
  14. It's not the money at all, I'm just eager to find out when I can get my hands on it
  15. A smart car would be nice, most seem to be HO scale
  16. Managed to find a 117 craftsman detailing kit at Howes models , they have one left now. They have some other bits too.
  17. If I pre-order and pay the money over, just as a ballpark when would it be expected to ship?
  18. quick update, paypal refund in progress and recipient is shown as unregistered, which I think means that the account isn't properly even set up as a merchant account or processes a lot of funds. Guess its best to use paypal for payment wherever possible
  19. I placed an order 9th jan, via paypal and it states "unclaimed" but no response by email or phone and so reported to paypal along with website. would be a shame for paypal to revoke their paypal status as fraudulent which was not the aim , but at least the money will be refunded.
