  2. We have been tracking the container ship across the oceans from China and it docked in UK last week. Unloading and Custom's clearance seem to have been completed in record time, and the latest info from Bachmann is that the container has now arrived at Barwell. It will then need to be unloaded and checked before we are invoiced for a rather large amount which will wipe out our bank account - remember that we didn't take any deposits or stage payments.

Once payment is made the loco will be released for delivery and then the fun starts as we will have to contact everyone to arrange payment and then as payments come in, the locos will be packed, labelled and dispatched. This will take a couple of weeks and so it's going to be mid-July before the first ones are ready to go.

We need to mention that there has been a price increase in line with the usual annual updating of prices by Bachmann and as we have no option to pay the increase and pass it on to our customers, we are going to offer free post and packing at a considerable cost to the Club. I believe we are using UK Mail 48hr tracked service at a cost of £6 so that's £3000 plus the cost of boxes etc. This is a lesson learned and so the next loco may come with different terms and conditions (yes there is another loco on order with deposit already paid). Suggestions include one or more of the following ideas - deposit with order, stage payment when the boat sails, free post only for those who pay before a certain date - other ideas welcome !

Thanks for your support - and your patience as we are now a long way past the original suggested delivery date.

Many thanks for the updates from yourself and Alex.  Have you announced what the next loco is?

    Regards,

    Ken.

  3. The Thunderbirds' radio code "F-A-B", meaning "message received and understood", didn't stand for anything, it was just supposed to sound "hip". In fact, when asked what it stood for, Gerry Anderson once replied, with some bemusement, "Fab," as though it were obvious.

Thankyou Baz. it's one of the phenomena of life, now solved.  I can pop my clogs a happy man.

    Regards,

    Ken.

  4. So why don't you buy one? They you can find out if it runs or not, at your leisure.

Mainly because I've seen the Hornby 71 in the flesh and was impressed with that and having a limited income, the difference between £89.99 and £139.99 is significant enough to warrant my question I thought.

    Reagards, Ken.

  5. HI,  Issue no.4 has just landed on the doormat.  Revised publishing dates in the apologies insert sees issue no.5 due in January 2016.  Having spoken to Howard and Robin at the Wigan Show I hope that all is now well and the future is bright for the magazine.

    Regards, Ken.
