Very nice, I hope that I will get the chance to see it for real one day.

There was a new to me photo in the latest WRRC Archive magazine showing 36 which clearly shows spectacle frames. It is virtually impossible to get every detail right for any particular date, there just isn’t enough information. My aim was to get a model that looks right, I think I managed it.
I have enjoyed looking at your blogs, something a bit different.

Having built one of these I can certainly agree that information is vague, very few photos to work from, mostly undated. They all spent most of their lives shunting in Barry docks, I believe the two that were tried on the main Barry line were modified to be of similar performance to the B1 0-6-2 tanks.
What surprised me when I had finished the model was how small they were, you expect an 0-8-0 to be a big beast but there are posed photos with the crew standing by the smoke box which give a good idea.
There are photos of my model on my Llanforen thread and also 88C’s workbench.

Sorry for causing confusion, my comments refer to the B1 class, clearly I did not read the title carefully. I have now edited my entry.
As you mention the Bs had a 5’5” overhang and I don’t think there was any difference, I certainly don’t claim to be an expert.

The front overhang, measured from the centre of the front driver to the buffer beam, varied with different batches. Starting at 6’1” subsequently extended to 6’4” and finally 6’9”.
These measurements refer to the B1s not the Bs

Really looking forward to seeing Sherton Abbas again on Saturday. These photos are a reminder of just how good the layout is.

I have only just found this topic and it’s got me tempted to have a go myself. Like yourself, I can live with some inaccuracies as long as the result looks the part. Should I add this to my pile of projects?
This also reminds me of the articles which used to appear in the Airfix magazine of many years ago, I wish that I still had them.
Well done.
