Not mine, but don't know where else to post this, whilst on the Shropshire Union Canal I went to see Making Tracks 3 and met Pete Waterman, nice chap but was having a right go at the operators trying to get to grips with the technology, presume volunteers not used to running the layout with tablets.   3. Just found this, lovely depiction of something Midland/NER/Hawes line. I only returned in Lockdown to modelling and wanted to use the Peco Bullhead points, if only the Double slip and Medium Radius hadn't been delayed! I had some DC LNER stuff left over from previous but upon reflection should have gone for a more modern look to utilize DCC.

    On the subject of Tenshodo bogies, early variants use a narrow spur gear which is liable to fracture. Repair is impossible and the gear must be replaced. Later variants use a wider helical gear : I have never encountered breakages with this type. On rare occasions the brass worms may be loose on the motor shaft - Loctite or a replacement worm should cure it.

    The ends of the Tenshodo axles have machined rebates which fix the back-to-back - note that this is slightly wider than usual to clear the motor casing. If replacement wheelsets are used one must be sure to set the back-to-back to match the Tenshodo value.

    Earlier Tenshodo units have a small tab on the keeper plate which locks over a spigot on the main casing (although it frequently breaks)  - bending the tab back to clear the spigot allows the plate to slide back and be unclipped (with care, one can use a small screwdriver to assist in levering the plate off). Later variants use a tiny screw.

    Thanks, I have it apart, needed a major clean up, got it going sporadically but back to square one again. will try another clean up but just think its so worn not worth bothering with.

    I suspect the camera is a Sony Alpha 6000. It uses a Sony 24 MP Exmor sensor, and that means you've got heaps of quality if you can learn to use it. 

     

    Sony menus from that generation are famously difficult. This video might help you learn a little about what and how. Make use of depth of field - how much of the photo is in focus, near to far - by using small apertures like f8 and f11. You should find apertures are quoted in the viewfinder and the rear display, along with shutter speeds and a lot of other data. Beware of battery life - I have a couple of Sonys with that battery and it loses charge quickly.

  6. Does anyone do any ex NER elliptical or clerestory roof carriage kits in 00, all I can find LNER carriage wise is either Gresley or Thompson corridor stock or ex GER suburbans which wouldn't be anywhere near a North Eastern branch line. The Hornby Clerestory I am told are not truly NER or LNER.
