An update to this thread, the layout has come a long way since I posted on here last, I haven't posted much on this layout for a while as there seemed to be very little interest.
Anyway, some more photos for those who are interested

A bit more good progress made on my signal box. All painted & detailed inside although most of that won't be seen. An LED fitted inside the roof,
The signal box in its new home on the layout
Some security gates & fences added at the colliery entrance road

Another update & some photos for you all.
Scratchbuilt yard lamps now painted, fitted in place & working.

Another job to get done is some working yard lamps. I've decided to scratchbuild my own. I've made them out of brass tube & soldered some brass ladders to the tubing. Some brass wire bent to shape & soldered onto the posts on the tops. Wiring threaded through the tubing, LED's fitted & some scraps of plastic for the lamp heads, then some lamp lenses glued into place. I've made a couple of different types, some single lamps & some double ones.
They are far from perfect but hopefully they will look the part once they are painted up & in place on the layout.

Back to more buildings, this time a Severn Models signal box & also the interior kit. I built one of these for my Porthkerry layout & I think they are very nice little models when done. This one will go at the junction where the mainline branches off into the colliery sidings.

A water tank kit I've built & weathered put in place next to the engine shed. The various barrels, pallets etc I salvaged from my old Cridmore yard layout I sold on and I'm re-using them here

Hi Stu,
As I noted previously you have recreated the colliery scene with great atmosphere. There are some great little features. Have you ran locos and stock on the layout yet? I can see several dog leg joints on the track, while I understand this adds to the run down and chaotic look of colliery yard, I worry that models might not run over the track well which could lead to operational frustration.
Cheers
Duncan
Hi, Thank you,
I've had a Dapol Pannier, Farish class 04 & a Class 37 also with some 16T minerals running over all the tracks to test for any problems & all seem to run fine. I did have a couple of derailments at first but that was due to the wheel flanges catching on some of the infill between the rails which I had to deepen a bit & now they are ok.

I've now done a good bit more of the static grass on the layout. Surprising the difference its starting to make I think
Done some static grass on the platform halt to make it look semi derelict
A few more photos of the yard, some random grass patches
Large embankment at the back of the layout grassed over
Some patchy grass added to the other side of the riverbank

Hi Stu,
There are some carefully noted details that you have included that greatly adds to the scene, they have been well modelled, this is turning into a delightful model full of colliery atmosphere. It is a pity more RMwebers are not following your progress.
Cheers
Duncan
Thank you for the kind comments! I will keep posting updates for those who are interested.

I've been constructing a couple of Scalecenes buildings for the layout, one a small office/shed for the road vehicle weighbridge. The other also a Scalescenes building, a signal box which fortunately is in the same style as the colliery buildings I have built & is similar in design to the prototype rail weighbridge building that was at Maerdy Colliery so is ideal as a weighbridge building.
I've also built a Ratio oil tank kit, modified it a bit so I could fit 2 tanks onto one base so it takes up less space, this will go alongside the Engine Shed.
Cheers, Stu

Small hut now in place & working light fitted
I've been making a start on adding some static grass at this end of the layout
And trial fit of the engine shed in its new home
