  1. Hi Jon,

Found your thread through a link on someone else's layout topic - as I was looking for something to read at work.  It has been a thoroughly enjoyable perusal of your work, from the early days with Marlingford up to the present day with Begbrooke.  Your work on getting the signals right is commendable - and it looks as if your modelling skills are most definitely improving all the time.  As someone else mentioned, the backscene and the embankments work well together - not too much of a contrast between either - so the eye is fooled.  Will enjoy reading about further developments - even as an Eastern region follower, and modern image modeller!

    Best Wishes....

  2. Hi Anthony,

I stumbled upon this thread some days ago and have had several enjoyable reading sessions to go through all of it.  It can only be described as a labour of love.  The scale of what you are doing is immense, but you seem to be methodically working through your plan.  I hope that Sydney is treating you well and I wonder how the building construction is proceeding.

    All the best....

  3. seeing the finished product up here i'm looking and thinking something doesn't look right, i may actually shorten the steel sides of the bridge so they only extend over the 'water' and extend the brick walls 'over land'

    Hi Jim,

I agree with you - the steel girder sides seem to extend too far at present.  Am enjoying your thread a lot!

    Regards....

  4. Just enjoyed reading through your layout thread Ian.  There is plenty of good stuff to take away as inspiration all the way through.  Especially like the SWITCH building with the pallets and loads on the platform.  I like the way your signals and points are all controlled from the Prodigy as different routes - maybe it's not as difficult as I imagined.  I will have to investigate that on future layouts - for now I've gone down the plain DC controlled points.

Wishing you all the best for the Wimborne show - I'm sure the layout will get plenty of admiring glances (and the operators too maybe?)

  5. Hi guys,

Layout is looking very impressive.  Just read the whole thread, and some lovely work on wagons and locomotive resprays.  Looks like a great article in the Modeller too.  Congratulations.

  6. Stumbled across this thread and kept on reading and reading.  Excellent buildings you have constructed Andy.  Not my scale, not my region of interest, but your thread has kept me entertained for a few hours.  Will be following to see how it all progresses....

    Regards...

  7. Hi Andy,

You have a fantastic looking layout there, the architectural modelling is first class. It really shows the merits of N gauge well, with the railway set in the landscape not the other way round. The sight of a full train of clay hoods emerging from your blacked out tunnel and onto the viaduct will be worth seeing. Will be following with interest.

    All the best,

    Andrew
