The NRM has said this morning: "We can confirm that the Class 91 91111 For the Fallen has been designated by The Board of Trustees of the Science Museum, however designation does not infer that disposal will automatically be to the National Railway Museum or that we are the only recipient that will be considered or consulted. For example in the past year, 25 items have been designated and 12 disposed of.  Only four of these have come to the National Railway Museum."

The Railway Heritage Designation Advisory Board, chaired by Lord Faulkner, made the

recommendation after he attended the dedication ceremony at London King's Cross.

The designation of 91111, For the Fallen, has been ratified by the Science Museum's Board of Trustees.

The designation includes not only the locomotive, but its commemorative livery as well.

The Barrow Hill diesel gala on April 18/19 will see a Colas and a DBS 60 in action, although the Colas 60 will only be there on April 18.

VTEC has told me that the next 91 set will emerge in the new livery during the first week of April, with the first HST set ready in May.

Both fleets will be finished in August.

On Monday the stock for the 11.00 departure arrives at King's Cross ECS from Bounds Green.

After returning with the 16.30 from Edinburgh it works ECS to Ferme Park.

The very first passenger trains of the new franchise are on Sunday and will be:

Northbound - 08.45 from London King's Cross to Aberdeen

Southbound - 07.55 Newcastle to London King’s Cross

There should be a second 91 in the new livery by Tuesday.
