  1. Would recommend looking at the Hattons project update page. Some nice clear photos and the lining on the Early Emblem model is correct too https://www.hattons.co.uk/newsdetail.aspx?id=495&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=mar-359-mogulpaintsample&fbclid=IwAR2C3dcc9-sBGAlyAN7U6dUlFmpYkj0HZZr9_GaDJss-yIt37q1h5vimm94
  2. Those look absolutely amazing. I want one now!!!!!
  3. In direct competition with Dapol?? Be interesting to see how people lean as from the sounds of it Hornby will be first to the market but Dapol's version will be slightly cheaper judging from RRPs
  4. OK, so progress has been made slowly over the past few weeks due to the heat and the room in which the railway is heated up very quickly so I had maybe a 1-2 hour window each day so progress has been slow. However we are getting there with most of the track laid and a start made on the platforms Plus we have a name!!! The station has been christened NEWBURGH
  5. Glad you like them. Literally just made them in Microsoft Publisher simply scaled to the cream wall to the height of the actual wall and then the lower section so it ended at the bottom of the windows. Bottom look achieved by simply lining up loads of squares for the desired effect. Same basic principle for the ticket office
  6. The postman brought some much anticipated packages today with the delivery of cork as well as the turnouts and point motors. So eager to get started the first pieces of cork were cut and glued to the baseboard, the first pieces of track cut and the first connection made to the bus wire. A tenderless "Overton Grange" was then given the honours of being the first loco to run on the "layout" albeit a very short run along the headshunt and over the point until the isolating fishplates came into play.
  7. So the main station building is now about 80% complete. All that needs doing now is all the doors and windows adding along with LEDs. The the roof can go on!
  8. Today's work has focussed on completing the waiting room with the addition of minor details such as fireplaces, pictures and benches. Only some passengers, doors and LED lights to add then the roof can go on
  9. Another short update from yesterday's building work. The station masters house is coming along nicely with the main frontage only needing doors fitting and a couple of windows. The building has also received the first couple of LEDs and outside lamp that really bring the building to life. I forgot to photograph them in the evening but will try tonight. The only problem now is progress on this part of the station has been halted as I underestimated the number of small sash windows that were needed. Oops! So stuck for something to do the main waiting room has had a its floor fitted and windows fitted
  10. Quickish update on Daleford, or should I say the ex-Daleford. After much deliberation regard the cost of converting to DCC, track renewal etc. I have decided to disassemble the layout and start afresh with an all new layout using the existing boards. Check out the thread here CLICK ME Finally I would like to thank everyone for the support and advice with this layout and hope you enjoy the new build.
  11. We have something that loosely resembles a station building!
  12. Progress was made on the start of the main station building last night whilst watching the World Cup All of the card has been cut ready to receive brick sheeting which I have now made a start on. Window frames are from LCUT with glazing being recycled turnout packaging which seems to do the job quite well. Strong, sturdy and absolutely free (excluding the turnout!!!)
  13. Hello and welcome to my new layout topic/build of a yet to be named Midland Terminus. The general idea for the layout is based around an L shaped baseboard with the main trackwork being based on the longer section of baseboard and the fiddle yard/ cassette area on the small of the boards (see layout plan) The layout will be operated on DCC and my first dable into the digital realm, with trackwork being Peco Code 75 Most if, not all buildings (not yet decided) will be scratch build card buildings not really based on any prototype, just what takes my fancy and looks nice really! The layout is currently at the late end of the planning stage with track plans worked out (pictured is some old code 100) with actually trackwork either in hand or in the post. In the meantime I am cracking on with the card kits so stay tuned for more and hope you enjoy the thread and layout when its finished!!!!!
  14. Loving the layout plans and enjoy the holiday in my university town. Get yourself a Great Little Trains of Wales discount card and save yourself a pretty penny too!
  15. Absolutely love that idea! Modelu really have found a gap in the market!!!!
  16. Alright! I'm back from uni for all 3 weeks of the Christmas hols and it was straight back to work on the layout. Since building the layout the trackwork has picked up a few niggles on the way. This being through dodgy laying, temperamental connections and the fact that I filled some of the point mechanics with ballast so they don't change properly. One of the problem sections Dodgy dropper wire connects that were cut too short With this in mind I have decided to go for a complete relay and also delve into the joys of DCC. So up comes the track! Up it comes! As this is the last time for a while there will be a continuous loop every loco has had a quick run round as well amply demonstrated by Overton Grange Alongside the relay I am also going to redo the platforms and station buildings as the Metcalfe platform kits are a bit short when track is on cork underlay The ex-station Salvage tub
  17. What an absolutely awesome curve ball by Dapol. Jan 2019 is going to be an expensive month
  18. Hi Guys Apologies for the lack of updates recently but not much of any note has happened on the layout recently to warrant an update due to life getting in the way and a certain 3 week sporting event but with some free time now I have managed to get some more work done. First off I have continued with scribing the cobbles, what seems like an endless task! As well as ballasting the final bits of track as well, another milestone reached!!! Another area of focus has been around the farm where I have started adding in a vegetable patch as well as some more grass being added both for the orchard and lineside area Happy modelling
  19. Looking good and hope the wiring is going well. I know that view from Consti well!
  20. With the rain pouring down in Lancashire all day what better way to pass the time than run trains!
  21. Having been paid on Thursday I took myself down to the Range to pick up some more modelling clay to finish off the yard and here are the results Std 3 82019 tests out the track . Looking good!
  22. Most of today has involved the scribing of the clay that I put down a couple of days ago. A very tedious job to say the least as what you see is about 4 hours work!!! but well worth it. Scribing tool Mk.4 (needle gaffa taped to kebab stick) During breaks from scribing mainly to give my hand I rest I made a couple of ground frame for the yard points using some bits I had lying round. One last thing completed a couple of days ago but I didn't feel it warranted a post was the addition of some more green above the bridge end of the station including the pill box
  23. Should be fun! Was considering your technique at one point but couldn't find a suitable pen!!
  24. Another thing ticked off the list/completed that has been wanting to be done for ages. The yard crane is now made up with operational platform/base. Under construction In situ with wagon for judgement Next thing on the list is to cobble the yard. The plan is to use Das Clay and then score it once dry with a ballasted inner
  25. Let there be light! May only be one lamp but another minor step forward. All the other lamps should be in place once the surrounding scenery is complete. Another thing that arrived in the package from Hattons was a Metcalfe pill box kit which was subsequently made up and naturised
