No option for anywhere other than U.K. delivery?

I need to work out how best to do this. A quick look at postal rates for Australia tells me I'll need to charge between £4 and £11.50 depending on weight and whether economy or standard delivery is used.

If you want to drop me an email at stuart@stmodels.co.uk for what you want I can work it out manually and send you an invoice.

  2. LAUNCH10 discount extended!

Thank you to everyone who visited the new store this weekend and especially to those who bought something 😃 It mostly worked as intended.

There were a couple of issues. Some people found it unclear where to put the LAUNCH10 discount code. It goes near the top on the right on the checkout page as in the picture.

The other issue is that some items were showing as out of stock due to having inventory control incorrectly enabled on them. Nothing is out of stock. I have been going through the inventory today ahead of Narrow Gauge South and everything is available.

As a result of these issues I am extending the LAUNCH10 discount code until the early hours of Wednesday morning in case some of you were frustrated by either of these issues.

Don't forget, you can also save on shipping if you want to pick up your purchases at Narrow Gauge South in 2 weeks time.

  3. 10% off purchases all weekend.

This weekend I have made live https://stmodels.sumupstore.com/. With the new store I am able to move away from sending invoices for payment and can now take take payment via credit cards and PayPal. It also allows me to offer discount codes so I am offering 10% off this weekend using the code LAUNCH10. I can even offer collection at Narrow Gauge South in 2 weeks time to save paying for shipping - sorry to all those not able to get to Narrow Gauge South but at least you can get 10% off!

  4. New product - SR 8 Wire Concrete Fencing.  This was a commission which is now finished. The fencing was used extensively by the Southern Railway. Typically the spacing between posts was around 18ft and the number of bays between straining posts was around 20 bays. I have not produced straining posts as 2 end posts and 20 standard posts is typically enough to produce a 1.5m run of fencing - more than enough for typical model railways. The end posts have 0.6mm holes in them at the correct spacing and all have had a drill run through them. The standard posts have dents on one side to help with positioning the wire. In real life the wire went through a split pin that went through the post with the ends of the split pins being splayed on the railway side. The test piece shown used invisible thread for the wire (obtained from any good sewing shop) which then has to be dry brushed with paint to stand out. The posts have a 1mm diameter peg on the bottom. You can find them on the website in the Lynton & Barnstaple section.

  5. Does anyone know if Attwood Aggregates are still in business? I bought some superb ballast from them at Warley last year and want some more but they are not responding to emails and their Facebook page has not been updated for several months.

  6. I'm looking at doing my first chassis etch. Admittedly it will be 009 rather than 2mm (sorry). Can I ask what thickness and material do people commonly use for their chassis? I was thinking 20thou nickel silver.

    Thanks

There are supply problems for a lot of European made products, across the EU as well.

MTB point motors seem to be out of stock, on back order, or at best a promise of delivery in 4-6 weeks, at German stockists.

    .

Thanks, Ron. I phoned round and was met with the same response. I placed an advance order from dcc automation, the UK importer. They currently expect them mid December.

Code 55 flat-bottomed rail is available but the nearest bullhead produced is the code 40 from the 2mm Scale Association or code 60 from the 3mm. Personally I think the PECO track is quite well done while Tillig rail is grossly overscale.

Both these are also available from C&L Finescale - https://www.clfinescale.co.uk/ - so you don't have to join the other societies though I am a member of both since they provide a useful range of bits.

  9. Personally I would like something LMS. I'm very tempted to start drawing up LMS wagons and make them available as 3D prints but I doubt the demand would be there. Despite recently turning 60, i don't remember steam so I have to recognise that diesels and electrics are going to be a better investment for manufacturers.

As an aside, has anyone heard of a manufacturer contemplating producing wagon and coach wheels?
