  1. Steveydee68, I’ve sent you a PM Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  2. Just found this thread a year after its last posting. An absolutely fabulous little layout, I like the different sets of buildings enabling the use of different stock. What is the current state of play? Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel, the home of tinned beer
  3. Clive, I’m envious of your varied collection of DMU classes. Modelling South Wales in the early DMU era ones options are much restricted, basically I need only Classes 116, 120 & 122! Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel, home of the first tinned beer
  4. Thanks, Brian but I don’t do facebook. I occasionally partake of Double Dragon, it is definitely still available. The bungalow we hope to eventually purchase has a pub almost directly opposite, the Tafarn y Felin. Unfortunately it is a Marstons tied house so no Felinfoel brews. Tim T
  5. Love the nuns at Kings Cross! A bit surprised to see a Warship at Marylebone? Tim T
  6. It was! (showing my age now) Hitachi Class 800’s are awful but at least you get more leg room than on a Bombardier Voyager Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel, home of the first tinned beer
  7. Thanks, Brian. That confirms my reading of the Colin Chapman book. It is the second box that I’m looking for information on. Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  8. This one is actually A2 so good luck finding somewhere to copy it Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  9. Jonathan, I’ve already downloaded what they have. One surprising omission from the diagram is there are no distances from the signal box for the signals, something that I would have expected to see during my working life in S&TE. Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  10. Not sure if this is in the right location but here goes. We are shortly to move into our retirement bungalow in Swiss Valley, Felinfoel, Llanelli. SWMBO has agreed that I can have the ex-garage in which to house my project. This will be to create a representation of Llantwit Vadre on the line between Pontypridd and Llantrisant. I will be stretching reality a bit in running trains ranging from TVR steam through to first generation dmu’s. Now to the point of this post, I have most of the books covering the Taff Vale Railway and the GWR in South Wales. What I cannot find in any of them is any photographs of the signal box at Llantwit Vadre, neither can I find any information on the dimensions of the station. Can anyone help? Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  11. Only days? I seem to remember the only time we’ve ever had a turkey we were eating the bl**dy stuff for several weeks! We didn’t buy it, SWMBO won it in a raffle. Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  12. That should prove interesting Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoelm
  13. Interestingly the 1939 trolleybus timetable shows the last bus to Felinfoel at about 10:45pm, even on a Sunday. Of course this was well before the age of mass motoring. Will we see such a level of service ever again? Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  14. Public transport doesn’t seem to be an option in Llanelli in the evening! They seem to think everyone goes indoors at 5pm and emerge again the following morning. Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  15. Ray, I’ve just found your thread courtesy of Clive Mortimore’s Sheffield Exchange thread. I will be following this with interest, especially the baseboard construction as I approach my 67th birthday. I work in 4mm EM gauge but the lightweight construction seems eminently suitable for my purposes. Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  16. That depends on how much you add/spill Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felifoel
  17. That is exactly how I will be playing it if we ever complete the move to Felinfoel. My current thoughts are along the lines of Llantwit Vadre with a might-have-been of Passenger services having continued long enough for Class 116 and Class 122 to have taken over from autotrailers, alongside various colliery workings. Well that’s my dream. Tim T
  18. I have just dug out my copy and it has very little to say about reversing gear other than that the Bird series “reverted to screw reverse” but from what they reverted (lever or steam) is unclear. Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  19. I trust that a more substantial cover will be fitted? Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  20. Nothing comes up on the UK Model Shop Directory either. Don’t dismiss it as not a scam just because it’s model railway related. Scammers rely on using plausible identities that are unlikely to raise suspicions. I’m also amazed that your card provider cannot provide any information Good luck.. Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  21. Perhaps that might change at the end of this month? Tim T
  22. It’ll be a climb up for tired legs at the end of the shift if you don’t provide a platform Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
  23. So that explains why I can’t work out a simple cobbling together of two centre car bodies to make a 116 TS Tim T All packed up ready to move to Felinfoel
