  1. Ive got hold of a Heljan 20 in RF Grey. Its DCC fitted and its got one of the new high current gaugemaster DCC decoders fitted. It works fine. Would i be able to add a 2nd decoder for sound? I was thinking a TTS chip or a loksound chip as i have both spare So in effect the guagemaster chip would be driving the loco and controlling the lights and the TTS or loksound would be there just for the sound function. Would this be an effective solution as i do quite like the sound of the TTS 20
  2. I have a gaugemaster DCC01 that ive had from new last July 2019. Has been working fine, but recently it wont read any locos on the program track. It just comes back with ----. It wont program loco addresses or alter any CV. The link light blinks as it normally does. If i program on the main most decoders will change address - a few wont such as the Dapol imperium. I can also program CVs on the main no problem at all - again i cant get the imperium to change address using CV1 but it will happily program CV3 and 4 accelleration and decelleration. So it seems theres an issue with the program track part of the prodigy. Ive checked the wiring. Ive obtained the official 2m replacement cable just in case but to no avail. Ive emailled gaugemaster, but does anyone have any suggestions? It works fine whilst operating the layout direction -functions - all is ok, just the program track issues
  3. It seems Sam isnt a fan of the well tank New EFE Rail Beattie Well Tank | Unboxing & Review | (Plastic Tat) - YouTube Edit : Tried to link the review but dosnt seem to want to
  4. did you reverve the direction of one of the decoders using CV29 - so basically in one of the cars - the trailer in my case - forward is backwards and vice versa. So set CV29 to 3 on the decoder on the dummy car.
  5. With my 108 i had to reverse the direction of one of the decoders using CV29 in one of the decoders to get the lights working properly. To do this i had to program both chips to the same address and reverse the direction in the power car as the dummy couldnt seem to program the chip

  12. Price difference in normal dcc ready and sound versions seems a bit steep at approx £170. Are they not 21 pin decoders?
  13. Can anyone whose got one of these help me with a few questions as ive only used insulfrog skips before in 00 Looking at the slip it looks like theres 4 wires attached - 2 for the frogs and are the other 2 for the track feed wires to the bus? If so is it just a case of connecting to track bus? I plan to use DCC80 autofrogs to switch polarity as ive done with 00 scale electrofrogs. Ill use insulated joiners on all 8 rails of the slip. I'll be operating the slip by hand. Is that it or have i missed anything obvious?
  14. another with murdoch with the same pics, starting at the price the last one ended at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-Hornby-THOMAS-THE-TANK-AND-FRIENDS-R9684-MURDOCH-Locomotive-DCC-Ready-/174493757421?fbclid=IwAR32ECAEQSs5ei2wCRP7kz-8jK0Tqq78HMqpKqwO8my-ESQ42f0Jdw9NwRc

  20. cheers picked up the decoder from time tunnel. Whilst the lais chip i inially fitted works well i wanted the manual brake feature of the Bachmann / zimo chip
  21. With regards to the price im happy with the 129.00 i paid for mine. Its roughly the same as i paid for the new 24/1 and only slightly more than the new Bachmann pannier releases. The laisdcc decoder works well, giving super low speed running on 128 speed steps.
  22. Decoder fitted an still runs great. Decoder fitting was a simple job of popping the smokebox door off pulling the socket out of the smokebox with tweezers and installing the chip. Unlike the DJM version only the small door comes off.
  23. Picked up the BR early crest version today. Only had a quick test to check it runs and the difference in running quality between this and the DJM version is like night and day. Smooth quiet and runs nice over insulfrogs. Will run it in some more later on then fit a DCC chip, the only Next18 chip i have is a laisdcc, hopefully it will be ok
  24. Id be sending it back again for refund - thats a right state its come in.
