  1. That looks so simple, the best sign of outstanding work.
  2. Thanks Neal, that's really casts serious doubt on the likelihood of a seamless painting solution. Perhaps I'll have a lie in bed tomorrow morning instead. Thanks also to Phil @Harlequin for his timely reminder. This forum really is the sharpest tool in the box.
  3. Ah, I had quite forgotten that. Mind you, don't the glazing sections pop out for dropping in sme supplied partly open units, or am I dreaming of an easy painting solution? I have much experience however with bolection painting from Aifix B set and Ratio 4 wheeler happy days and still have my Clifton Downs set to paint
  4. Mine are in the second batch, which I did not realise when placing my order with Kernow. So picture the scene: Here I am sat on a ferry to the UK with a free Saturday to myself and Guildford only an hour up the road and I can't think of any reason not to pop up to see the chaps and grab some first batch toplights, thus saving the Brexit tax in France. Ah, decisions, decisions . . .
  5. A well prepared return to the circuit Nick and certainly executed with some aplomb with Best in Show. Congratulations. Looking forward to your assessment of the Locomotion lube.
  6. All the best for a great return to the exhibition circuit this weekend Nick. Unfortunately my UK trip had to be shunted back to the next weekend, so I will sadly miss seeing you and MM again!
  7. Unwaxed dental floss springed to mind in respect of the reins, as it can be further split and coloured. I've yet to try it, but will be experimenting after a raid on the bathroom, as my delivery box cart also requires steering equipment. Thank you for another great blog entry Mikkel. Best, Bill
  8. A useful bit of kit the Sea King and my mate Andrew used to play with them too. What fun, despite the cold and turbulence. We flew in an antique version for transits between Newquay to Tresco one glorious February 20 years ago. Good luck with the move. Any idea when yet?
  9. Now a garage annex sounds interesting 😉 I've started, so I'll finish: perhaps this chap may be able to provide a tailor made solution: Handmade buildings available from Graham T . . . . sorry, couldn't resist, back to my ukulele practice !
  10. Ah, the old shed chestnut raises it's ugly head yet again! Garden sheds are cheap shelters for storage of gardening tools and such like, not treasured works of art such as model railways. They do not provide a safe and comfortable environment for the railway, which, if to be located in the garden, needs a purpose build structure to residential standards. All the best with the move Graham, but please don't be tempted by compromise.
  11. Chassis building can be a little daunting the first time round and yes, you can spend many red wine tokens buying specialist tools, but you don't have too. Just take a leaf from the great Iain Rice's "4mm Loco kit Chassis Construction" book, a must have for the aspiring chassis builder. His practical no-nonsense down to earth approach is still a refreshing one, particularly regarding chassis jigs. You make your own for peanuts: Page 38 reproduced from Iain Rices book included soley for education purposes. I managed to get through my Metro build from use of the above book and also much help and advice from RMWeb modellers in the thread below. Hope this helps, Bill
  12. This looks like another really useful book from the GWSG and I'll make sure that my subs are up to date in good time. Many thanks Ken for the heads up. Best, Bill
  13. Well, I was expecting more than the 64,50€ and should have the SRM in a few days. The crew and passengers are still in the UK, but will be brought over by friends in a couple of weeks. Hope yours is as economical Neal.
  14. Aha, I've just received a lovely email from Kernow Model Rail advising me that a parcel is being sent to France with my name on it. My patience should soon be rewarded, but I better make sure I have sufficient liquid funds to pay the Brexit tax to Michael our postman, before he will hand it over! Not long now. Fingers crossed for a happy ending to the story. Bill
