Mine are in the second batch, which I did not realise when placing my order with Kernow. So picture the scene: Here I am sat on a ferry to the UK with a free Saturday to myself and Guildford only an hour up the road and I can't think of any reason not to pop up to see the chaps and grab some first batch toplights, thus saving the Brexit tax in France. Unwaxed dental floss springed to mind in respect of the reins, as it can be further split and coloured. I've yet to try it, but will be experimenting after a raid on the bathroom, as my delivery box cart also requires steering equipment. Thank you for another great blog entry Mikkel. Best, Bill

A useful bit of kit the Sea King and my mate Andrew used to play with them too. What fun, despite the cold and turbulence. We flew in an antique version for transits between Newquay to Tresco one glorious February 20 years ago. Good luck with the move. Any idea when yet?

Ah, the old shed chestnut raises it's ugly head yet again! Garden sheds are cheap shelters for storage of gardening tools and such like, not treasured works of art such as model railways. They do not provide a safe and comfortable environment for the railway, which, if to be located in the garden, needs a purpose build structure to residential standards. All the best with the move Graham, but please don't be tempted by compromise.

Chassis building can be a little daunting the first time round and yes, you can spend many red wine tokens buying specialist tools, but you don't have too. Just take a leaf from the great Iain Rice's "4mm Loco kit Chassis Construction" book, a must have for the aspiring chassis builder. His practical no-nonsense down to earth approach is still a refreshing one, particularly regarding chassis jigs. You make your own for peanuts: Page 38 reproduced from Iain Rices book included soley for education purposes. I managed to get through my Metro build from use of the above book and also much help and advice from RMWeb modellers in the thread below. Hope this helps, Bill

Aha, I've just received a lovely email from Kernow Model Rail advising me that a parcel is being sent to France with my name on it. My patience should soon be rewarded, but I better make sure I have sufficient liquid funds to pay the Brexit tax to Michael our postman, before he will hand it over! Not long now. I think some smokey black wash may tone it down to a less striking degree, but will need to wait for mine to arrive after Kernow do final fettling.

The station building in particular is beautifully modelled with skill and attention to detail and would do credit to any Great Western branchline.

Ah, the dulcet tones of the sadly late, yet undoubtedly great Mick Bonwick come back to me, as I always use inexpensive white spirit to thin enamel paint. Yes it stinks, hence my filtered face mask.

Well I'll be at the Southampton show next weekend, despite one of my favourite model railways going to Basingstoke later in the year, but only just up the road, so anything's possible. Moving is rarely a fun activity, which means so much organisation, hard work and some goodbyes, but it provides a natural break between the old CR and the new one, as well as putting you back where railway modelling is so much easier and fun in many ways. I wish you an easy move and stress free transition to a more productive lifestyle Graham. Best

Thanks Graham for your intimate knowledge of the product, as the chimneys can obviously be pushed home securely. Most reasuring and I'm looking forward to my delivery in due course.

Perhaps a couple of turns with PTFE tape on the chimney will give just enough friction for a sufficiently secure non-glue placement.
