In the Strathwood book "Shunters 2", there is a picture on page 54 of D3707. The caption states "it was specially modified with radio and multiple working capability to act as a replacement within one half of a class 13"

Are there brass contacts inside which touch onto brass pads? If you don't tighten the 8 body screws especially the ones near the cab, then that can stop the lights working. Worth just trying a few extra turns on those screws to make sure you have good contact.

The Wizard models web site has pictures of a lot of different frets. It might be worth having a look there first.

I've been following the thread in regard to the sound cutting out problem. I am not a electronics expert, I was a railway signalling technician and we found complex failures by using methodical disconnections. So I thought that I would just share my experience in the hope that it may be of some value. Purchased 37027 sound fitted from Accurascale. Put on layout, pressed F1, sound started then stopped after 2 seconds. Purchased 37043 sound fitted from Accurascale. Put on layout, pressed F1, sound started then stopped after 2 seconds. Both locos would eventually fire up after standing on the layout for some time, typically around 15 min. Purchased 37051 non sound fitted from a box shifter. Purchased sound decoder from Accurascale. Fitted decoder, worked straight away no problems. But the sound was crap using just the sugar cube, so I purchased an Accurascale thrash speaker. When I fitted the new speaker it caused the same fault as on my 37027 and 37043. Sound started the cut out. So I removed the sugar cube speaker and then it burst into life. Started straight away. Then removed the sugar cubes from 37027 and 34043 and they now work fine. Accurascale seem to be saying that the speaker set up is specially designed for the speaker arrangement by esu. The speakers that I removed had a resistance reading of 2.7 ohm. So by altering the impedance of my speakers , my stay alives are now charging in under 1 second whereas before it took about 15 min. Yeah right. Sounds to me that the sugar cube speakers are out of spec. They should be 4 ohms? So is it just me? 3 class 37s and all faulty?

I've had a similar occurrence. Try setting CV19 to 0.

I would think that no signals are required on a depot. The only place on your plan that I would possibly put one is the exit track for locos leaving the depot.

The white stripe can be removed with a cotton bud and some T-Cut. Mine just needs another pass to remove some small areas. Slow and gentle is the way and then a rinse to remove the excess.

Those look very good indeed. One of them will be D400/50050 (handrails missing). Hopefully the unique handrail arrangement on 50006 will have been captured by the Accurascale team?

There are 3 wires involved. One goes from the common crossing (frog) to some kind of switching device, where there will be two connections to the supply. If you have got those mixed up, that can cause what you are describing. Make sure the "common" is connected to the frog.

What exactly have you bought? A dc motor runs with positive on brush A and negative on brush B. But that swops over when you change direction, then you have positive on brush B and negative on brush A. So a polarity conscious capacitor would be no good for that. DCC stay alives are not fitted across the brushes.

Looking at the image of 50006 earlier in the thread, reminded me about the cab handrail at the number 2 end, I think. It's in a different position to all the rest, and only at that end. The handrail is nearer to the centre of the loco than it should be.

Well my 55017 arrived yesterday. What a superb model. However a bit disappointed with the documentation, no mention of how to remove the body or how to fit the superb headcodes. Otherwise a great effort well worth the wait.

In my experience, the Capacitor supplied by Zimo is next to useless. It only gives a very short time as you have discovered. Digitrains do a stay alive part number 870009 which gives 6 to 20 seconds. I have fitted one of those to a Zimo in a Hornby class 50 and the sound runs for 18 seconds after lifting it off the track. Other stay alives are available.....

Hi, I have this in my collection, taken 09/05/83.

To be pedantic, not really in 1968 condition. The model has the cab handrails fitted which D400/50050 has never had. One end of D406 had a cab handrail fitted in a different position to all the others.

I should say both decoders are set up differently. My sound project came from Digitrains. Richard

On the zimo F21 and F22 are controlling Function output 1 and Function output 2. Is that what your F19 and F20 control? Richard

Don't know about loksound. On zimo the lights are directional, that is one end is lit red on say F21 and it goes out if you change direction. Same for F22. Richard

Just fitted a Zimo MX644D sound decoder in my 25093. The Cn6 socket is for a speaker connection. If you unplug the red light circuit and instead insert it into Cn2, then you can switch the red tail lights independently using F21 and F22. I'm surprised at the complete lack of instructions on this. Its a shame because these are really good features. Heljan ought to be shouting " look what you do with this"! Really happy with mine now, but took some getting there. Richard

The cn6 seems to be the speaker connection. But no lead/plug is provided. If you want to use that connection, you need to source your own lead. What a poor set up. Richard

So just to clarify here and make sure that I have not misunderstood. We are saying that as the loco comes, you cannot control the cab lights independently from the headcode lights because they are one and the same. Also you cannot have the headcode box lit at one end and have the tail lights off at the other end (even with a dcc decoder). And whilst there is a socket on the PCB for a speaker, there is no lead provided to make such a connection.
