  1. Found this booklet on the web today with drawings of the G5. Will study those and see if I can use it in the future. There is alsoa booklet of the M7 LNER G5 Instruction booklet print off pdf.pdf LSWR M7 Instructions.pdf
  2. thank you for the information to convert a Dapol M7 into a G5. I am very interested in this and have already searched for drawings of a G5. On the web I find drawings of Connoisseur models which are useful. The problem is how do I find a Dapol G5 to study whether a conversion is possible. Here in Holland there is nothing to be found so whether this idea has a chance of success is very small as it looks now.
  3. Hello Because many photos are no longer visible in RM web, I want to share with you some photos of my railway Richmond branch with this contribution. Rails are from Fleischmann, not so nice, but they will do the job, the rest is homemade. Buildings made of cardboard and paper, signals DIY with LEDs. Everything is manually operated by means of levers Also, the turntable. The level crossing is Arduino controlled. For the train control, I use the program engine driver.
  4. Gentlemen Thank you for the clear answer to my question, I'm going to think about how I'm going to make the lamps, think about installing about 15 of them.
  5. This is the last post I write under the name Richmond branch. Subsequent contributions will be posted on Richmond NER. Henk
  6. Hi Can anyone tell me what model platform lamp was on the platform in Richmond in 1948. I have looked at many photos but I cannot find out in which year the lamps were changed.
  7. Hello Edwardian I understand that you want to date the station to the beginning of the last century . I have decided to realize my layout as it was in 1948, that is also my birth year, and with the idea that there are also n gauge locos from that time. I own a Union Mills J39 in Br version and not in the Late and Never Early Railway version. So if I can contribute something to this story, it will not only be about the NER but also about the years after, hope that is not an objection. Until half a year ago I building at the Richmond emplacement using arduino and servos to operate the switches and semaphores, I have left that path and have now switched to manual operation by means of levers, the turntable is now also manually operated so it feels It concerns me to build my model railroad. use arduino and dcc++ex and JMRI to run my locoHenk
  8. Information about the Van Houten sign. You can find it here https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Houten_(chocoladefabriek) Put it in Google translate. Henk
  9. Hi Edwardian Pleasantly surprised that you have taken over Chris's station. Would like to contribute to Richmond NER if I can. I am very happy with the descriptions of the station and the iconic buildings. From my country it is still very difficult to get data but via Richmond NER a Richmond station heaven has suddenly opened up for me. Quit Richmond branch now. Hopefully this year on the bike again to Yorkshire.
  10. Hello, another comment from the Netherlands. What I wrote earlier, I had to pay VAT, customs clearance and the carrier, for which I received an email to pay the stated amount, I did not do this, I wanted to see if the package was in good condition. Ordered the J39 from Wickness at the beginning of November , Douglas posted it after a few days, Royal mail did the same and sent it to Holland and than, after a mont I contacted Douglas and he was very helpful and wrote that he would refund the money if the train was not delivered before X mas. Wickness is a great shop. I phoned several times with Post.nl but no result. 1 day before Christmas, the doorbell rang and the locomotive was delivered to me and, strangely enough, that happened without I had paid the VAT, etc. Al ends well in the end. Resume before Brexit a pakket was iat home within a week, now I waited 2 months. I don't buy online in England anymore and wait for the time that will come without Corona restrictions. The J39 runs great on my Arduino wifi controlled through my phone. Wicness did a great job.
  11. It is no longer fun to buy a loco in England. In the Netherlands we have to pay VAT and also customs clearance fees as well as processing fees to the carrier. This applies to everything from outside the EU from 0 euro. Example : bought a locomotive for 220 euros in England and had to pay a total of 53 euros for the above items. Normally without corona I come to England every year but that is not so easy now. So for the first time no new rail products from GB for me. Build an English track in N, there is nothing for sale in the Netherlands for that, unfortunately. So it's no fun on this side of the border either
  12. Edwardian Thank you for your photos, as I look at them, I get a great longing for the actual station and Yorkshire. Hope that after the summer and when everyone is vaccinated I can get on my bike again on the way to Yorkshire armed with camera, tape measure, paper and pencil Greetz Henk
  13. Thanks Martin Nice you like it, do you know the station? I will have a look at geograph.
  14. Thanks for the beautiful pictures of the railway bridge. But build a new more accurate bridge is not possible now. Hope I can go to Richmond in the second half of this year.
