  1. I spoke to a Bachmann rep at a large exhitition over a year ago about this set. I explained that I wanted the train but not the track and controller. I questioned the logic of the trainset only approached. He assured me that retailers would split the sets and even suggested the name of someone to contact in a particular retailer. The practice is common and it is crazy that Bachmann discourage it on one hand but not only turn a blind eye to it but positively encourage it on the other. To conclude I can see the reason to discourage splitting of entry level systems sold at a competitive price to encourage entry to the hobby. However for the Pullman set it does not make sense.
  2. I am looking forward to mine and I knew about the painted lens compromise. However I dont think its moaning to say I too would pay an extra 20 quid or so for the lighting to be correct for the early 156s.
  3. Yes. More important that it is right. Did you hear about the delay from Dapol?
  4. Thanks Phil. I see that now. I did not get the 20mm reference.
  5. I am not sure these are the right scale but presumably they could be printed at different scales.
  6. The 156s look great. Cannot wait for mine. Finally a Realtrack model in a 1980s livery :)
  7. That would be great. alright. Interestingly they are Zimo decoders and not ESU that Bachmann usually use.
  8. Fair enough review. It is bascially a really old model with a slighlty updated mechanism and a nice coat of paint. The paint job is the only thing that elevates it above the Railroad range where it belongs. The underframe detail, or the almost total lack of it, shows how far the hobby has come in the the approximately 30 years since the model was first tooled.
  9. Not a typo Chris P Bacon. I was referring to the post above It would be quite a typo to confuse "crowd funding" with "cloud computing". Even my spelling is not that bad.
  10. Does anyone know when these wagons were built? I agree that it would be useful if the KT website had this info. However I cannot see how its absense has anything to do with cloud computing. The internet was always cloud based.
  11. And the link has KUA in it too despite the page stating IQA. TOPS codes have changed before but I do not think this is the case here. However I am not too familiar with these wagons as I believe they are too late for my modelling period. I think this would be the first DCC operated British outline wagon?
  12. The website lists an IQA Nuclear Flask Wagon. DCC and non DCC versions: http://www.krmodels.co.uk/store.html?store-page=KUA-Nuclear-Flask-Wagon-OO-Gauge-DCC-p144246137
  13. It is great to get such a large sum of money back. A great relief I am sure as it is a significant amount. Best wishes and good luck to anyone else still trying.
  14. As a satisfied customer I can say that the Accruascale 4mm wagons are absolutely top quality. I have HUOs and PCAs. I have seen the 7mm HUO and it is exactly the same.
  15. Looking very good. Great to see progress being made. I wil hopefully see the samples at Warley.
  16. IRM are doing a Deltic. That is a surprise. Will it be in black and tan livery?
  17. 97201 will not be long now. SLW have just sent out an update.
  18. If its any good I will get a few no doubt. Never liked Heljan's tubby duff.
  19. There is evidence it was a Ponzi scheme. It is not conclusive yet and I am not saying it was but it cannot simply be dismissed. There were definitely elements of it. There seemed to be more money going out than was coming in. We do not know where it went but plenty have suspicions. The only thing that kept it going was new model funding. All the while the cash was being burnt through with no models to show for it. If Dave was taking a healthy salary from this enterprise from day one it was never going to succeed and would always be playing catch up as it was never big enough to support this. It would have needed to grow and build over time. I really do not think he had any ability to grow the business into a sustainable one. I just do not know if this was due to ineptitude or deception or a mixture of both. The way he let things end and just walked does not speak well of his character.
  20. I read somewhere that they were only 25% full due to the weight but looking at photos it does seems to be closer to 50%. Just to clarify I was referring to the Llanwern Port Talbot when I mentioned looking at photos. It makes sense now that I think of it. that ore density, as mentioned in subsequent posts below, will vary.
  21. Brilliant choice. The PCAs I bought are amazing so to get the PTAs to the same standard is very welcome. They were right at the top of my wish list. I knew someone would do them. Very pleased it is Accurascale. I even have the PFAs to look forward to in the meantime.
  22. I doubt we will find out the full facts and where all the money went or indeed how much money there was. It is not really the liquidators job to produce a history of all the transactions. The size of the company would not really have justified or supported any kind of salary and we have no insight into this anywhere. It was obvious for a while that record keeping was an issue.
