  1. 4 and a half hours and I don't think I saw everything. Great show. Loved Alston and Kettlewell. Both in the same general area I'm modelling.
  2. I've taken Friday off work and bought my ticket online. Hopefully be there for doors opening and I plan on being there the full day. Graeme
  3. Thanks folks. I've had Anderson and Fox for years, read through it many times and never once spotted Langwathby shed - Doh! The reason I'm modelling Lazonby is because a favourite aunt lived in Hunsonby and regularly caught the train from lazonby. Langwathby is probably closer as the crow flies so I think that shed will be just fine for my layout. At some point I'll be starting a new thread in the S& C layouts page but not until I have something to show :) And I've just ordered Rails in the Fells - £3.80 with free postage! Graeme
  4. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever published scale pans for The archetypal S&C goods shed? I've finally cleared the space in my garage and started building baseboards for my 24 x 11 layout representing Lazonby but I've drawn a blank trying to find plans for the goods shed. I suppose I could use the metcalf model and replace the outer card with embossed stone plastic sheet but I don't know how accurate the kit is. anyone?
  5. I'm supposed to be seeing the Stranglers at the O2 on the 29th. If that goes ahead there's no reason why MRS shouldn't. It's only 40 minutes or so drive for me so I'd likely turn up early Sunday. It would be really nice to attend at least one exhibition this year Graeme
  6. Love the photo second from bottom. Having the houses in there really gives a sense of scale to the viaduct itself. In fact it's the sort of photo that I'd have on my wall. Veering ever so slightly, we've been watching series 3 of 'Lost in Space' on Netflix. In episode 6, the young hero drives off to do battle with killer robots and to attract their attention blasts 'Tom Sawyer' out of the buggies loud hailer. (probably the only reason to watch the series if you're not already doing so ) Graeme.
  7. Just back from my Mum's funeral so I've missed a few weeks. I'll try not to be too sycophantic but the layout is coming along wonderfully Jeff Looking at the hoofprints, I'd like to make an observation..... I spent a lot of summers in my youth helping my uncle on his farm in Weardale and he had a narrow lane between 2 fields that he kept his beasts in. As your modelling suggests, they'd generally walk singly or maybe 2 abreast on the lane but they are remarkably stupid animals and would congregate in a big group at either end before one of them would pluck up the courage to walk the lane. This meant that a good 20 square yards of the field at either end of the lane was a quagmire. Might be worth modelling this at either end of the bridge. Graeme
  8. The vast majority of my Blue sky photos feature snow James. Its' the summer that's dreary over here Graeme
  9. I'll happily admit that I've had a great many 'blue sky' days walking in the dales in the past. Maybe living in Scotland for 23 years has affected my outlook Graeme
  10. Indeed. Every time I get my scope aligned and start all the astro programmes the clouds sneak up. I've managed a total of 2 hours subs since the start of september Graeme
  11. Just catching up with 2 weeks of posts due to a family bereavement. It's all looking fantastic Jeff. That sky's a bit unrealistic for Yorkshire though isn't it? Should be a uniform grey Graeme
  12. Great progress Jeff. If I hold a hand over the white bit in the top photograph I can't tell if it's a model so you're definitely doing something right! Question from looking at the wider images (and it's probably been addressed before) - do you have a lift out section to access the operating well or are you having to crawl underneath? My knees don't like hard surfaces so there's no was I could do without a flap. Graeme
  13. I really hope so David. I'm just over the hill South east of you towards Forth and I've had about 5 half decent observing nights since the start of September. Nearly 900 feet up and almost always under cloud and rain. There's an astro kit supplier I buy from that puts stickers on their parcels that say 'May contain clouds'. Never a truer word..... Graeme
  14. You need to build a pub at the bottom of that wall Jeff. In my mind's eye I'm following that long wall all the way from the top of Ingleborough down to the Hill Inn in Chapel-le-dale for a well earned pint or three Graeme
