Goathland camera went off twice today - there was a power cut.
-
How are you finding the cameras now we've moved them on to YouTube?
We swapped them over in January.
-
woodenhead is correct, we're shadow running at the moment which is where the services are run empty so volunteers can renew their competencies and get used to the timetable.
Also a lot of the engines had winter maintenance done during Jan/Feb and are being running in.
We had a land slip at Beck Hole which was only very recently re-opened for traffic so there hasn't been a great deal of movement North/South during lockdown.
That's why they were shuttling Grosmont<->Whitby in April - you could only get about 2 miles south of Grosmont before the track was closed.
There are now shadow services running the full line. 825 and Sybilla have been doing most of them.
There's also an internal shuttle running which is currently the 101 DMU.

Just bear in mind a lot of this is press buzz to go with the political lobbying the HRA does so it’s not as gloomy as it sounds - completely understandable for them to be making noise about it, but it’s not news to anyone in the heritage railways.
There are various plans being suggested to distribute foreign coal. I’m not sure how much of it is public so I’ll bite my tongue here, but it’s not ‘the end of steam trains’ as some of the quotes in the article seems to suggest.

Bit of drama today - the 9.20 Optimist was cancelled due to a bridge strike by a road vehicle at Goathland (second in two months)
It was all re-opened in time for the 12.00 service.
-
Repton had just returned from Pickering after dropping the coaches off.
If The Optimist is running with 825 or the 9F it's being swapped with Sybillia at Grosmont for the Whitby section.
I think its just 825 and 926 this week on The Optimist - the 9F was in the running shed today having a bit of TLC.

Both webcams appear to be down at the moment

The thing that bothers me about the PowerCab is the recall stack - where it 'forgets' the function/speed settings if you call up more than 8 locos
Is there a way around that?

Just sat down to have 5 minutes watching the Steam Gala in between jobs
Is this is Richard from New Junction (?!)

It's not boring at all - I'm quite enjoying your videos, Brian

The Whitby line was re-laid on a tighter curve in the late 80s and the NYMR inherited what was left of the junction

That 'S' curve is so cool

I just tried to print from Adobe Reader and guess what! I can't change the scale to 175%. Adobe strikes again. So I took a screen grab at 175% and printed that at 100% using Mac's Preview. I now need to check that the scaling is right. Nothing is ever as easy as it should be.
Paul
You have to set the page scaling type to tiled, then the % box appears
https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/scale-or-resize-printed-pages.html
Not sure if you've seen but Scalescenes also maintain a reference list for enlargement/reduction values for non-supported scales at
https://scalescenes.com/not-modelling-in-n-or-oo/
Hope this helps

Do you mind me asking - how big is your station building?
I quite like the footprint size relative to the platform
-
I hope the 4mm building doesn't go to waste - I remember how impressed I was with the quality when you first built it, you got a really great result out of a ready-to-plonk item
Your attention to detail, as always, is amazing
-
Junction looks fab
so pleasing to see it done properly with due care - many people are in a rush to "get some track down" you often see weird kinks or ripples in track work

Do you mind asking what mix you are using for the NE blue?
Ive struggled to find a colour that matches so well

Excellent models
I'm sure people would be quite happy to purchase 3D prints if you were thinking of offering it as a service?

I shed a private tear for 'Everard 1' Desk
-
You can get them on Amazon £12 for 12 feet
Do a general search for baseboard adjustable feet
Edit: I bought 2 sets and was very happy with them.

Has the platform edge suffered the same fate?
-
Someone would do well to launch a website where you can share CV tables for different loco/motor/decoder combinations
Especially for DCC Sound

It's not actually arrived yet - there are issues with transportation logistics.
The Yorkshire Post article sums up what happened this morning, there's not much more to add.
It's obviously not appropriate to live-stream a platform full of people who have been shook up by the event, so we took the Grosmont camera down this morning.
It will remain offline for the next day or so - but hopefully back in time for the Gala this weekend.
According to Realtime Trains - Tornado will be leaving Crewe HC at around midnight if you want to watch it on Railcam UK.
