Hi Steve, I have checked a couple of our locos and it looks like the marker light has been put on the same function as the headlight, this is different from the specification and what we had on other samples so we will be taking it up with our vendor to see if there is a fix to make it run as it should. This affects codes ending: 010, 017, 019, 024, 026, 029 and 030.

If the marker light is not working with the headlights then there will be a fault with your model, in  which case get in touch and we can replace it for you.

Regarding the cab lights. They run on Aux 7 & Aux 10 front and rear on our Loksound 5 project. For other decoders, they are fed from pins 2 & 1 and are a logic function, this should help you get them working on other decoders.

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

The other thing I forgot too mention was that also the marker lights do not change with the direction neither, which I realise they will not as we now know there is a wiring issue, So do you know if its the whole batch or just a few and do you have any of this model left that is not affected as I would like to exchange?

    regards

  2. Yes it seems odd, both my 66/0 & 66/5 work fine but just this 66/6 does not seem to work as per the others and all the switches are the same on all 3 locos and I have used hattons 21 pin 6 function decoders on all 3 and have swapped a couple around to make sure it is not a duff decoder, hopefully (Hattons Dave) would be able to test a dcc fitted one and let us know if this is just our locos or a faulty batch.

Hi Steve, Function 0 should turn on the marker lights in the direction of travel, if no lights are coming on, you may need to reconfigure the switches inside the loco.  The instructions on how to do this are included in the box.  If all of this is as it should be, it sounds like it may be a faulty loco, in which case I would get in touch with our returns team at info@hattons.co.uk

    Cheers

Hi Dave, function 0 only turns on the top marker light, and according to the instructions all the switches are as they should be, this is the second loco I have had that has had this issue (same model), just double checked and 0 only turns top marker light on, functions 1/2 tail lights and 3/4 other marker lights? Not sure whether there is an issue with this batch of loco

regarding the lighting? When I sent this back last time I did state it in my covering letter, would you be able to confirm before I return this for an exchange if there is an issue or I have been unlucky?

    regards

Hi Steve, I've checked our sample models of 66621 and they show two operational marker lights (above the cab windows and left when looking front-on at loco) as opposed to all three. Leave this with me as I'll be checking this with our vendor.

    Cheers

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply it seems strange that it is only on this variant, as the 66/5 and 66/0 all 3 marker lights work as per prototype, also maybe worth checking your dcc fitted one as when I fit a decoder (your own product) 0 does not switch on as per others?

    Regards

I wonder what is happening with all these returned 66s.. hope they aren't being skipped, I'd happily buy a few to repair..?

Would imagine the manufacturer has to take them back but not sure Or they may sell them off but would imagine Hattons will not be to happy if theres loads being sent back, the one thing I will say and it has been said before on this thread, the customer service is excellent.

  6. Evening all,

does anyone have the 66/6 variant and if yes have you noticed only one of the marker lights works? This is the 3rd one I have had due to issues and when I have ran in on dc on a rolling road before installing a decoder once again only one of the marker lights works? Not sure if it is just this model? (66621) if anyone has noticed this?

    regards

  7.

When I posted the earlier comment, I had forgotten that the 07 was 6- not 8-pin. However, I have now covered both. :)

Thanks Srman for your help regarding this, I have contacted Hattons and they are going to send a replacement so hopefully I will not have the same problems.

  8. Perhaps you have the Prius Hybrid version of the 07 and its sound fitted? Lucky ######!

Haha, its an unhealthy sound if it is.

With an 8-pin decoder, it doesn't matter which way round you insert it, it won't short out or cause any problems, unless there is a problem with the locomotives wiring, which is what it sounds like here, as Steve has surmised. What does happen if the decoder is wrong-way-round is that the lights won't work at all, and the loco will run in the reverse direction to that which is expected.

Thanks Srman, is that the same with a 6 pin as well then as it is a 6 pin decoder?

  9. Did you put the decoder in upside down?

Hi Andy, not according to the manufacturers instructions regarding pin 1 on the decoder and on the model itself, I also followed a youtube vid as the body is a pain to get off with all the pipes that need to be disconected. Its weird how it only started to hum as I pressed F0?

  10. The lights should turn off and on with F0.

As this is a shunter, I also tweaked the settings on mine so that the front and rear lights are all on at the same time, showing one red and one white light at each end (still using F0 to turn the lot on or off).

Thanks, the lights seem to just permeanently stay on regardless of pressing F0, and after trying it again today I have a feeling there must be a fault/short as it has fried my decoder

  12. Hi all, I have recently purchased a class 07 (HNRC) version and have fitted a guagemaster dcc23 decoder and all is working fine, Does anyone know if the lights are meant to stay on all the time regardless of using 0 on most other locos to turn the lights off and on? Also if I do press 0 as you would to turn lights on or off there is a faint humming sound?
